Last Friday night I attended the Fashion Houston Row Call Party to kick off Fashion Houston
. Fashion Houston Five is a week-long star-studded designer runway event that will be held November 18-21 at the Wortham Theater Centre. The notable designers, whose high-fashion lines will be seen on the runways, are Rebecca Minkoff, Rene Ruiz, David Peck, TIBI, and Naeem Khan, to name a few. Fashion Houston is an event you won’t want to miss if you live in the Houston area!
Friday’s kick off event benefited Dress for Success
and was held at the brand new JW Marriot in Downtown Houston.
And what a fabulous and fashionable evening it was!
Fashionistas from all over Houston attended the event to toast the fifth year of Fashion Houston. It was an absolutely wonderful night of mixing, mingling, dancing, drinking, and people watching.
The bars were hopping and guests were treated to specialty cocktails featuring Circulo Tequila
(which is absolutely delicious by the way) as well as anything else our hearts could desire.
And if your heart was desiring a whole lot of sushi that evening, well you were in luck.
Tiers of assorted sushi were piled high along the enormous and colorful sushi bar.
Numerous trays filled with other decadent treats were also whisked around throughout the crowd.
It was quite heavenly, if I do say so myself. 🙂
gorgeous venue was also dotted with beautiful models who were raised above the crowds on their own private platforms.
Models were posing in pieces
from the partnering designers and giving us party-goers a sneak peek at
what more there is to come during Fashion Houston Five.
I immediately fell in love with this Rene Ruiz gown.
The details and embellishments were simply stunning.
What I would do for one night in this dress and a pair tickets to a fancy-shmancy ball…..Daydreaming sure is fun. 🙂
Many other Houston Fashion Bloggers attended the event as well.
It is always so much fun to get together with other amazing ladies who all share a similar interest.
I especially loved spending the evening with Ashia from The Color Fashion and Andrea from Prettily Simple. Be sure to check out their fabulous blogs!
After plenty of chit-chatting and socializing, the lights dimmed, the music turned up, and the party took a dramatic turn.
In only the best way possible.
The crowd went wild, shaking things up and dancing to the music.
And of course I can’t wrap this post up without a little about what I wore that evening, now can I?
This aptly named “Painted Plaid” Corey Lynn Carter dress from Anthropologie may just be my favorite thing that I’ve purchased this fall. The skit’s jagged cut makes this dress truly unique. I dressed it up for the evening with anUrban Gem necklace from Rocksbox
(get yourself a month for free here!
) and a pair of black cut out heels.
I’ve also been able to dress it down for the office by pairing it with a brown belt and and a pair of brown booties. Not to mention, the high neckline practically screams for a funky necklace or a bright scarf to be paired with it, don’t ya think?
Friday’s Row Call Event was just a taste of what is to come during Fashion Houston’s iconic week of fashion.
Tickets to the shows are currently on sale and start at only $29 for general admission. Get your ticket: here
I am definitely planning on attending a few of the shows, are you? Hope to see all of you Houston fashionistas in November!
