Elaine Turner Gives Back

Just a forewarning, this post is heavy on bright colors (especially pink) and pretty purse eye-candy!
If ya’ll haven’t heard me mention Elaine Turner a time or two on this blog, well, then you must not have been paying any attention. 🙂

Elaine Turner is a Houston based apparel and luxury handbag designer with whom I’m kind of (actually a whole lot of) obsessed with.

Plus, she’s hilarious. But more on that later.

Last week, Elaine held her annual Spring collection launch party at the recently opened boutique in Houston’s Galleria area. In addition to the launch, 20% of proceeds from the evening also benefited Operation Smiles – an international organization that advocates the importance of safe surgeries, as well as performs them, for children born with cleft lip and cleft palate.
My fellow fashion blogger pal, Andrea who blogs at Prettily Simple, tagged along with me for the evening.
The two of us sipped on champagne and browsed the new Spring collection while catching up with one another amongst the beautiful hot pink furniture.
Elaine
Turner’ Spring collection was inspired by the exotic locales of Marfa,
Sedona, Calistoga and Sanibel Island.  These lush and serene
destinations actually embody smaller collections within the whole spring
line.
No lie though, admiring the beautiful raffia purses and python clutches had me aching for a quick getaway to Marfa, Texas.
Added to the bucket list. Mainly because I really do want to see the Marfa lights!
But, enough
rambling about possible paranormal phenomena.  Below I’m sharing a peek
into our evening and a look at Elaine’s gorgeous new collection.

Midway through the event, the woman of the hour spoke with us about Operation Smiles and how we can help give back to this great organization.
She also took the time to describe the inspiration behind all of the unique details that went into the pieces of her spring collection.
Ya’ll, Elaine Turner is just so precious! As she spoke about the new styles for spring, she was cracking tasteful jokes and just seemed very personable. She’s kind of like that down to earth funny girl that you know hanging out with will always be good time but she also happens to be a fancy/amazing fashion designer!
You know what I mean??

Chris Meyer’s, the former center of the Houston Texans, co-hosted the
event with Elaine Turner. A strong advocate for Operation Smiles, he
spoke to us about the personal experience his family had with cleft lip
palate and how his family has since worked hard to raise awareness for
Operation Smiles.

In addition
to a portion of the evening’s proceeds going back to Operation Smiles,
guests could also purchase raffle tickets to win a few Elaine Turner
goodies. 100% of costs of the tickets went directly back to the
organization.

It certainly was a fun way to raise awareness and funds for such an amazing organization.

One of the highlights of the evening was being able to meet Elaine herself.

So naturally I had to snap a photo with Elaine Turner while I was carrying my “Elaine Turner.”
Because, duh!

The remainder of the party was spent browsing the rest of the boutique and awaiting to find out whether or not we won the big raffle.

Spoiler alert, we did not. 🙁

But all thoughts of the potential raffle winnings fell to the wayside when I stumbled upon this amazing hat. I seriously didn’t want to take it off, but unfortunately it’s not socially acceptable to grab a giant hat from a shop’s display and then wear it around during cocktail party.
Even if you reeeeaaallly want to.

Not only is this over-sized Raffia Hat absolutely adorable, but it is reversible too. Underneath the tan straw is a shade of chic black that is just beckoning to be worn poolside with a striped bikini.
Now to find that pool…..

It’s actually supposed to be really warm and sunny in Houston this weekend which is such a nice change from the nasty rain we’ve had for the past two weeks. Crossing my fingers that the spring weather is here to stay!

Hope you all have a great weekend! And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
