Navy & Lace

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Ours was more on the “lazy” spectrum.  Yes, we cleaned the house a bit, had a little date night Friday, but we mostly spent our days off catching up on our TV favorites. (Mine being The White Queen and Patrick’s being the Tour de France.) Sometimes these kick back and relax weekends are what is needed the most!
We are also deep in the middle of the dog days of summer here in Houston. It has been so hot outside lately, that Patrick and I have almost avoided going outdoors at all costs.  For example, yesterday leaving Target, Patrick and I basically ran through the parking lot trying to avoid the heat.  I even uttered under my breath, “not leaving the house the rest of the day!” Growing up in Tennessee, it got hot … really hot, but not anywhere close to Houston, Texas hot. I guess the only thing that this intense heat reminds me of is how I felt when we would have those super crazy cold snaps back in Tennessee. Just on the opposite end of the spectrum. The weather is so extreme you can’t even handle it!

Anywho, even in the extreme heat, I still find wearing long maxi dresses to be cool and comfortable.  I’m not sure why that is exactly? You would think that this would be the opposite. This lovely navy lace dress from Piper Street (currently on sale for less than $30!) is just breezy and airy enough for a hot Houston summer day. The long flowy skirt tends to catch the breeze while the open lace top keeps me cool. I love any type of lace detail on my clothing, and the top of this dress is no exception.
Piper Street is a precious online boutique owned by the stylish Sarah & Jenni. Jenni also happens to blog at Jenni Found My Closet. Check them both out if you have a minute! You’ll be glad you did. 🙂
I also wanted to shout out from the rooftops how much I am loving this envelope clutch that I am styling today. (And I also probably share it on this blog way way too much.) I bought it for a steal from Target and have had it on heavy rotation for ever since. As it’s now sold out, I wanted to share a few others that I’m also loving just as much. All at pretty great price points too!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog! Don’t forget to follow the Lone Star Looking Glass on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest & Twitter for my fashion fun inspiration & snaps of life in Texas.
