Casual in Tassels

The tassel trend that is all over the place right now makes me very very happy. Why you ask? Because every time I wear a tassel necklace or a tassel top, I can’t stop playing with the tassels! Do you have this problem too!? Ha, it definitely keeps my restless tendencies preoccupied throughout the busy day.  ðŸ˜‰

On a recent trip to H&M, I found this gray tassel top hidden in a back corner, with only one size left, like it was waiting for me. At less than $20, I knew this casual closet staple was something I couldn’t pass up. (Plus, hello tassels!) The top sadly is sold out, but I’ve linked a few similar options below!
Usually when I shop, I tend to gravitate towards the dressier more “special” pieces. I guess I convince myself that it’s better to spend my money on that sort of thing? I’m not sure.  So when I go out of my way to purchase casual laid back pieces, it’s kind of a big deal.
And once I do, I always ask myself …. why don’t I do this more often!?

I dressed this top up with dark skinnies, a plain (but statement making necklace) my favorite blue purse, and navy blue gladiator style sandals. (These sandals also come in gold & are now on MAJOR MAJOR sale at Anthropologie, I might add.)
When I do dress more on the casual side, I tend to add fun jewelry, bright purses or quirky shoes to my outfits to dress them up a bit. I’ve mentioned on the blog a time or two that I never like to leave the house without wearing at least three pieces. In this instance – the top, jeans & necklace are the three signature pieces, while the purse & shoes are outfit necessities that I also like to have fun with. This way I could be out running errands while also feeling dressed up enough to carry my look into dinner plans. 🙂

Speaking of dinner plans! I have got to share this recipe for chicken tortilla soup that Patrick and I made last night! I found it on Pinterest a year or so ago and it has become our go-to tortilla soup recipe. It’s also on the healthier side as well. (That is, before you add sour cream & cheese on top, which I always do!) 😉 We usually save soups/chilis for the cooler months, but for some reason I was itching to whip a batch up this week. Maybe that’s why it tasted so much better than usual, because we haven’t had it in so long!

Hope you all are having a happy Wednesday! We’re halfway to the weekend! 🙂
