Winter Florals

Floral in the summer is obvious.  Floral in the winter? Not so much.
Fashion rules be dashed, because I’m going to wear florals any time of the year I want to!

This pretty purple floral dress is not your average maxi dress.
Why?
Because how often do maxi dresses have these fun “scandalous” slits at the sides?
It’s like channeling my inner Angelina Jolie a la 2012 Oscars.

Restricted Shoes Jay Heel, black heels with think heel
A pair of understated (& oh so comfortable) black heels bring it back down a bit.
PS: these shoes are now on sale for under $42! RUN don’t walk….
Like, you can literally run in these heels, they are that comfortable. 😉

So in this particular maxi dress, I wasn’t really feeling how to “model” per say.  So a bit of spinning around & laughing with Lauren, and we get these pictures.
Which are too much fun not to share!

Really shows off the dress, am I right?

When styling this pretty winter floral number, I chose gold accessories to pick up the yellows, creams and gold details in the flowers.

So the moral of this post is, yes you too can wear floral in the fall, winter and all year long.  My one rule of thumb though, is to make sure that the color is season appropriate.
This dark plum shade works great for January because we traditionally wear darker colors in the winter.
However, I’m all for breaking the rules and rocking summer style floral in the colder months too! I’d probably wear a pair of dark boots and layer it with some sort of jacket or vest to transition it though. Now that I think about it, this is something that I must try!
Hope you all have a great rest of your Wednesday! We’re taking off Friday and headed to Mississippi for my sister-in-law’s wedding this weekend.  So today has felt like a Thursday and I have been thoroughly confused. We have been counting down January 16th for a such a long time and I can not believe that this special weekend is just a few short days away.
Wish my luck while I work on my Matron of Honor speech! 😉
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
