Cruising in a Blue Striped Maxi

I’m typing this post up from the balcony on our cruise! I’m out in the middle of the ocean blue right now {so surreal} celebrating a special bride to be!
So naturally today’s post is all about this cruise-worthy striped maxi dress.

I was shopping at Free People a few weeks before our trip, just browsing around, no intentions on really buying anything.
I’m a serious sucker for blue and white stripes and when I saw this dress hanging on the hanger, I was very intrigued.
On the hanger, it looks extremely odd. The opening under the chest hangs like a big hole and you look at the dress and you’re like “what on earth!?!?”
Curious, I decided to try it on.
And then it simply had to come home with me. 🙂

The unique cut in the top, the chest and the hem make this dress so special! It’s flattering, statement making but somewhat subtle at the same time.

I paired it with simple accessories: wooden clog sandals, a saddle bag & a silver cuff.

I have a feeling this striped maxi is going to be a vacation go-to for all of the trips we have planned this spring and summer.
Why is it that when we’re on vacation we always want to wear maxi dresses!? Is that just me?

Speaking of vacations. I’m currently on one! We’re celebrating my friend Nora this weekend with a Mexican cruise bachelorette party!

We figured now that we’re a bit “older,” and bachelorette parties are few and far between, that we would go big for this one! And I’m so glad we did! We’re one day in and I still can’t get over all of the food! Food … everywhere! And it’s all included.  Sure I’ll have a taco, and a burger too for lunch. Because why not?
Don’t get me started on the dessert bar. I usually don’t have much of a sweet tooth but this one is totally tempting.
For now, I’ll be signing off for the rest of the weekend.  But feel free to follow along on Instagram to see what I’m up to!
Ps: Thanks Carnival for offering an affordable social media plan to guests, this blogger toooootttally appreciates it!
