Off-the-Shoulder Florals in Charleston

Just a week ago today I was strolling the streets of Charleston with my blogger gal pals, about to embark on the weekend long adventure that was The Blog Societies Conference. When almost one hundred fashionistas congregate together, naturally a party is in order! And Thursday night, Vera Bradley kicked off TBScon with said welcome party.

With so many new friends to meet, all just as obsessed with style as myself, I knew I couldn’t just wear anything. So today I’m talking about why I think this black off-the-shoulder floral party dress made the perfect choice, and I’m sharing my thoughts on my first experience at TBScon.

Styling my seventeen-week bump hasn’t been that much of a challenge just yet. For the most part, I can wear almost all of my dresses in my closet. (Save for a few tighter fit & flare pieces.) But out of all those party dresses that I can actually fit into, not all of them are the most flattering! 😉

So I knew a shopping trip was in order before I left for Charleston! Where did I go? You guessed it. Anthropologie. My absolute weakness! I wanted something unique, special, dressier than what I usually wear that also worked with a baby bump.

The Nigella Dress just so happened to be the last one on the “onesie rack” (a rack of items that are either the last sizes in stock or online returns) so it’s like this pretty floral party dress was just waiting for me!

A dressed it up with cork heels, my favorite wicker clutch (both on crazy good sale right) and rose gold jewelry. These sunburst earrings are my favorite thing to happen to my jewelry collection! They might be huge, but they’re actually incredibly lightweight. Plus, they go with 99% of my wardrobe, which is always a plus!

I’ll be sharing more photos from the actual conference, and the welcome party, soon! But in the meantime shout out to my partner in crime for the weekend, Karen! She’s the blogger behind Lady in Violet and lives in Houston too! We roomed together for the weekend along with two other Houston gals. Friends like these make blogging all the more fun!

Speaking of friends, I made SO many new friends at TBScon! Well, they actually all felt like “old friends” when I met them for the first time. Only in the blogging world do you meet your friends on Instagram first, then they become your real friends later.  😉

It’s so fun having new connections all across the country! In each city I visit, there’s always a blogger to visit or to provide great recommendations for what to do when visiting their hometown. This internet community I’ve become a part of has been one of the most exciting things to happen to me, and being able to go to conferences like The Blog Societies, which brings your community together in person is an indescribable experience!

What type of communities bring you the most joy? Is it blogging too? A monthly book club? A charity organization giving back to something you’re passionate about? When you find your niche and take full advantage of it, amazing things happen! Don’t you agree?

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
