Shifting into August

Happy August! August officially marks the turning point between summer and fall. While it may technically be a summer month, schools across the country start back and storefronts begin their transitions with plaids, sweaters, & scarves.

One way I love to transition my summer pieces into the “awkward-in-between” months is with my accessories. But more on that in a bit! First I want to talk all about the exciting things I have planned for the month of August, and why I think that this “awkward-in-between” month might be one of the best yet!

For starters, August is going to be a busy busy month for this mom-to-be! I’m travelling quite a bit, starting with a trip to Charleston on Wednesday of this week! I’ll be headed to this charming & colorful city for The Blog Societies annual conference #TBScon, and I absolutely can not wait! (Be sure to follow along on snapchat all week long at @aliceksnaps!)

I am so excited to meet so many new bloggers from all across the country, some that I’m already “friends” with on social media! I’m also looking forward to the parties and sessions at the conference. And the roommate situation shall be reminiscent of college! I’ll be rooming with four Houston gals which will make for one pretty epic long girl’s weekend!

To make August even more exciting, a week after my trip to Charleston I’ll be headed to New York for a Mother-Daughter weekend! I’ll also be up there for the launch of Ego Soleil’s Spring/Summer 2017 line. This trip was VERY impromptu! I literally called my mom last week and asked her, “Do you want to do something CRAZY?!”

She said yes!

We’ve been talking about a mother-daughter NYC trip for years, and with a baby on the way, we figured now was the perfect opportunity to go!

I’ll take any and all NYC recommendations! 🙂

But other than the two big trips on my horizon, I plan on spending the rest of the month relaxing, prepping for baby, and soaking up the last bits of summer.

Speaking of last bits of summer, I recently scored this pretty dress of mine from Anthropologie for less than $50! For an Anthro dress, that’s such a steal!  It’s great for work, the baby bump and I think it’ll look suuuper cute with boots this fall.

Simple solid dresses are so easy to accessorize. Doesn’t this beaded necklaces from Nocturne look adorable? It’s so unique, makes a statement and isn’t the least bit heavy. Plus, a matching bracelet is always fun!

In my opinion, snakeskin prints are a neutral. 😉

So I paired my snakeskin tote with matching open-toed (crazy-comfortable) booties with my red shift dress. The open-toed booties still work for summer & will also be cute for fall!

I spy a 16-week bump!

Hope you all are soaking up the end of the summer too, whether it be an impromptu getaway, a day in the sun, or rocking those summer sundresses as much as you can until the season changes!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
