6 Reasons To Staycation

A look inside the guest rooms at The Westin - The Woodlands, TX.

Last month, Patrick and I decided to break routine by spending a weekend staycation-ing at The Westin in The Woodlands, TX. (which for those that don’t know, is a suburb of Houston & only about 30 minutes from our home!)

Today I’m sharing a peek into our relaxing romantic weekend getaway & 6 reasons why I think everyone should try a weekend staycation in their hometown. Afterall, paradise is only a state of mind!

After packing an overnight bag and “hitting the road” (for a super short drive) we arrived at our destination!

We spent our Saturday afternoon exploring The Westin, walking along the nearby waterway and then even sat back & watched a movie in the comfort of our hotel room.

If we had spent the day at home instead, we most undoubtedly would have been doing various household chores as opposed to spending some uninterrupted TLC time together.

The two of us got all dressed up for dinner at The Westin’s own Current Restaraunt.

And I can not get over that at one point, I thought that the TINY baby bump above was HUGE.

Caesar salad, baked chicken and squash for dinner from Current Restaurant at The Westin in The Woodlands, TX.

Current’s menu changes with the seasons. (Hence the word, current!) Smack dab in the middle of summer, I was treated to a fresh salad, herb roasted chicken and a deliciously golden squash blossom.

I simply had to pull the “pregnancy card” that evening, because I couldn’t resist the peach pastry & milkshake dessert combo listed on the menu. (All the heart eye emojis you guys!!)

After a restful night sleep (free from golden retrievers jumping in our bed), Patrick and I sipped our coffee on the patio and chatted about life, our baby-to-be and our plans to do nothing but sit by the pool for the rest of the day.

And those plans did not disappoint!

Sunshine, a good book and a lemonade mocktail from the poolside bar, SideBar, made for quite the relaxing Sunday, if you ask me!

Now that I’ve gone all into detail about our recent staycation, I’m giving y’all my top 6 reasons why I think everyone should go on their own staycation. And the sooner the better, right?

6 Reasons to Staycation

Save $$$. -Unlike a typical weekend getaway, staycationing cuts costs on the necessities of a long-distance vacation. Things like gas, flights, parking, rental cars, & checked baggage.

Reconnect with Your Spouse. It’s amazing what a brief getaway can do for you & your man! Not having to-do lists, dogs to walk, or various other distractions allows for quality time to reconnect with the people you love most.

A Staycation is Just as fun as a Vacation. Sure, you’re not hundreds of miles away, but when you’re at that new restaurant you’ve never been to or tucked away in your cozy hotel bed, it feels like you are! When staycationing at a local hotel, you quickly forget how close you really are to home!

Less Stress. Say you left a phone charger or your favorite book behind. Lucky you, home is a just a hop, skip & a jump away! Whatever you leave behind or whatever “emergency” might come up, you still have the convenience of home right around the corner

Try Something New. Staycationing gives you an excuse to try that new restaurant you’ve been meaning to or visit a park you just never had time to see before. We did both while in The Woodlands!

Change of Scenery. It’s easy to get stuck frequenting only the same spots in your hometown. Depending on where you staycation, you’ll get out of your comfort zone and hopefully experience something new. And like I said earlier, paradise isn’t a location but a state of mind.

I’m thinking that Patrick and I are going to have to fit one more staycation in before baby arrives in January! I can’t believe we only have a few more months as a family of two!

And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
