A Stylish Holiday Table Setting

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is all of the little family traditions that come with it. From my family’s traditions to Patrick’s and even our own, there’s nothing I love more than celebrating the season in special & meaningful ways.

Most years, we travel to Tennessee or Mississippi to stay with loved ones for the holidays. This year, with a baby on board, Patrick and I are grounded in Houston! We’re really looking forward to our quiet Christmas and creating new traditions for our own little family that we will continue for years to come. Here’s a hint, most of our “traditions” involve food!

Today I’m sharing our favorite new family traditions, my three tips on decorating the dining room for the holidays with At Home and a chance for YOU to win $100 to shop At Home too! Read below for more!

Picking the right centerpiece is key. It sets the stage for the rest of your holiday decor. I wanted the dining room decorations to fit into the space’s color scheme without being too bold or kitschy. Playing off of all of the grays & silver in the room, I chose this fun sparkly silver centerpiece and candle holder from At Home. Scattered tea light candles for ambiance and poinsettias for a pop of color made for the perfect additions to the centerpiece.

Personalize Your Holiday Table Setting

There are so many different ways to personalize a holiday table setting to make guests feel extra special. I spruced up my everyday white plates with silver chargers from At Home that matched my silverware and the centerpiece, perfectly. Printed menus always make for a fun personalized touch to any holiday table setting, wouldn’t you agree? I whipped these up for free on Canva.com in less than 5 minutes & printed them on cardstock. I then added candy canes with a clipping of pine from my Christmas tree to play off the red in the poinsettias and which also gave off a festive feel.

The candy canes and pine tree clippings were last minute additions that just happened to be readily available. I now love the idea of incorporating fresh holiday decor into my holiday table setting, whether it be candy or Christmas trees!

Think Outside the Table

While it’s easy to get caught up decorating the table, don’t forget about the rest of your dining room! I trimmed a faux potted “tree” (only $39 from At Home!) with tinsel and pompoms for a cheery pop of color in the corner.

White birch tree cones (currently half off) give my sidebar a wintery feel too. Now all that’s left to do is fill those glasses with some mulled cider and we’re ready to get this dinner party started!

This Christmas we’re laying low, but luckily some of our good friends are too! To celebrate the season in a more festive fashion, we’re having a Christmas Eve dinner party with one of our favorite couples! We’ll be toasting the holiday in style over roasted pork & peppermint cheesecake, of course. (Clearly, I’m excited … as I’ve already printed the menus!)

On Christmas Day, Patrick and I are planning on whipping up a big brunch & dinner for just the two of us. We’ve only spent one Christmas all alone in Houston before, and having intricate & oh-so-delicious meals to cook together & made that day so much more special. For those of you who are spending the holiday away from extended family, what do you like to do to make the day extra-special? I’m always up for incorporating new traditions into my “new” traditions!
