Blue Jeans & Boots

Howdy! Houston rodeo season has come and gone, but don’t shed a tear just yet because I’m sharing something sweet that will make even the biggest rodeo fan crack a smile. Today I’m teaming up with Cavender’s to give away THREE $100 gift cards to shop for a new pair of boots, or whatever else your heart desires!

The giveaway is over on my Instagram, be sure to enter & follow along! In the meantime, I’m chatting over here about this rodeo look and letting you in on why I actually didn’t make it to the rodeo this year. (Now that’s a reason for some tears, yall!) 😉

What to wear to rodeo: Black Lucchese Boots from Cavenders

This is probably one of my favorite outfits these days. My buttery soft Lucchese boots paired with a matching bag & this stretchy French Connection denim shirt dress = Texas #OOTD perfection. (Be sure to size up in this denim dress though, runs a bit on the smaller side) Now if I did actually make it to Rodeo this year, you better believe I would have worn this exact outfit!

The reason why we didn’t make it to this quintessential Houston experience? Kind of obvious actually, we just had a baby! With our family living so far away, we don’t really have anybody to call on a whim to ask to babysit. And I’m still not 100% ready to hand Annie off to an “actual” babysitter. I know, I know, I should. And a night out with my man will do me so much good … but I may just wait a little bit longer for that. Or … until my mom comes to visit and she can watch Annie for us. 😉

I’m SO excited for next year’s Rodeo, when our little cowgirl will be 1 year old and able to run around in her very own cowboy boots. I think it’s definitely worth taking a year off when you have something like that on the horizon for the next go-round. But oh how I missed those fried oreos & steaks on sticks! Hmm, wonder if they would taste just as great if we tried to make them at home? … Probably not!

Other moms out there … how long was it before you ladies called in an actual babysitter? And what did you do to celebrate your first date night out without your little one? My mom will be here next week and Patrick and I are looking forward to our first official “date” after baby! PS: mom I know you’re reading this. Thanks in advance for babysitting ha! And to everyone else, as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!

Oh! & don’t forget to enter to win the Cavender’s $100 Gift Card Giveaway: It will be live this afternoon: HERE!
