I’m writing this post from sunny Phoenix and the thought of a heavy sweater like this one right now is not the most appealing. But all trips must come to an end and I’ll be headed back to (somewhat) chilly Houston tomorrow and sweater weather once more. So today, I wanted to share this look with y’all because it is one I’ve probably worn the MOST this winter season. And now that I’ve taken a little break from my winter pieces, I find I’m ready to jump back in them for just a little bit longer too.
More on this look & why I’m SO obsessed with this sweater below!
When I studied abroad in the UK years ago, I fell absolutely in love with the fisherman sweater. These are cozy wool sweaters that were originally made to keep the Irish fisherman warm on chilly days spent at sea. Today, they still serve the same purpose but they’ve also become a trendy & functional winter staple too. And not just in Ireland! While I do have an authentic vintage Irish fisherman sweater (you can see it styled here) I’ve found that I’ve been wearing this lookalike version more and more than my original.

Here’s why: it’s not as heavy! It’s just warm enough to through on for a chilly day but it’s not too heavy that as soon as you walk indoors you’re absolutely sweltering. This is a sweater you can wear cozied up on the couch with a cup of tea and a good book and still be perfectly comfortable. It also isn’t a bad price either, at just under $70. Anywho, I could ramble all day about how much I love the sweater …. and the fact that THIS KIDS SWEATER matches it … but I’ll spare y’all from my endless thoughts. 😉
Are you guys still enjoying wearing your favorite winter pieces this time of year? I’m not going to lie, I totally have spring fever but I know as soon as it gets warm and stays warm, I’ll be wishing it was cold once more!
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog! Don’t forget to follow along on Instagram + Stories to see the tail end of my trip to Phoenix!
