Plaid, Fur & A Whole Lot of Fringe

Cheers to one week until Christmas and the first official cold snap in Houston!
You guys – it’s like 40 degrees out right now! What is going on!?
Living in Texas, it doesn’t always “feel” like winter, but the fashionista in me still wants to dress for the season.
This week’s answer to dressing for winter when it might not feel super cold is the: fur-trimmed ruana.

The best thing about a ruana is that it’s so easy to wear! I
love throwing them on over tees or sweaters & a pair of jeans with boots.
It instantly makes a simple outfit more festive.  I also have fun styling mine with solid
dresses, cinched with a belt.

There are so many ways you can style these fun fall/winter accessories! Do you
have a favorite?
This pretty ruana of mine was a somewhat recent purchase from francesca’s (can’t get enough of their fall accessories right now!) Sadly it’s sold out … but I’ve linked a few similar ones here & here
I especially love how lightweight the plaid fabric is – perfect for layering with tees & sweaters depending on how cold it actually gets down here in Houston.

& the faux fur trim is just icing on the cake!

You can easily recreate this look with any plaid scarf or wrap in your closet by adding a detachable plaid topper.  This one from Anthro is adorable!

Speaking of winters in Texas – it doesn’t get more Texas than a pair of cowboy boots!
Latest obsession: The “Penny” boot from Tecovas!  These “booties” are described as “an urban boot with an old, Western soul.” I love how fun that description is! Because it is spot on.
It’s the on-trend cowgirl boot that you can wear alllll the time.

Another shout out to my favorite accessory lately: my Daniel Wellington Grace Glasgow Watch.

I have been eyeing Daniel Wellington’s watches since I first heard about them … maybe two years ago? They always looked so classic, stylish & like they would go with everything.

Now that I have one, I can confirm that all of that is true! The blue and white stripe is a bit bold – but it still goes with everything in my closet. I love that the strap is interchangeable too, I’m thinking this black strap is going to have to be on rotation next.

For those of you eyeing Daniel Wellington’s oh so pretty watches yourself, you’re in luck! Use the code “LONESTARLOOKINGGLASS” until 1/15 to get 15% off your order at danielwellington.com!

PS: there is still time to get your gift by Christmas Eve!

Shop the look:

Whether today’s weather decides to stay on the chilly side
or fluctuates back up to 80 degrees (I wouldn’t be surprised) I still plan on
trying to dress for the season.
Because no matter where you live, when you’re 7 days away
from Christmas shorts & a tank top just seem…..wrong? (Except for if you’re
at the beach … then it’s always right!)
Hope you all have a happy weekend! And as always, thanks for
stopping by the blog.
