If I had to wear a daily uniform, like my daughter dons to school every Monday – Friday, it’s safe to say this patchwork skirt and white tee would be it. The Sea New York is just as durable as her plaid jumper, washes easily, and its busy print pairs equally well with a white top. (Including this $8 Target tee!!)
But I’m quickly swapping her saddle oxfords with a grown up version of the classic Mary Jane Flat.
The mary jane shoe trend is everywhere this fall – from velvet to patent leather, adorned with pearls or even with added heel height. I am simply swooning! I prefer to pair the show with a longer length skirt or cropped denim. Anything “mini” gives the shoe more of a baby doll feel, instead of the practical fashion forward flat that it is today.
I know I can’t get away with this look everyday – but some sort of variation of it is what I seem to pull on repeat. Do you find yourself gravitating towards the same outfits – or different versions of one – each morning too? Whether its jeans and a blouse, leggings and a tee, its so easy to get in a habit and comfortable.
As long as you’re having fun with what you wear, feel great everyday, having a “uniform” per se is just another way to define your style identity.
Now while we’re speaking of “comfortable” ..
I’ve yet to find another pair of flats as fine! Slipping into these smooth leather modern day Mary Janes from Sam Edelman feels like a treat in and of it self. Their supple yet durable. I’ve taken them from carpool to the playground and then straight to dinners out.
Ballet flats feel to me like the “anti-sneaker” and while I do love to tie up my laces and get my steps in, I can’t help to prefer this style more.
Have you found yourself rewearing similar styles and creating your own uniform lately too? If so, what fall shoe trends are you pairing with your looks these days?
