There’s something about a seaside getaway – whether its a romantic vacation for two, a family beach bash … or attending a conference that just so happens to take place “by the sea” – that calls for dressing in your effortless resort style “best.”
I may have only spent a total of 15 minutes with my toes in the sand while on Sea Island last week. And I wouldn’t necessarily call my week at The Southern C “relaxing.” But … my outfits sure felt easy, breezy & elevated enough for a real resort getaway.
My suitcase was packed for an off the clock agenda: with only plans to stroll along the shore and sip on a spritz. Conveniently the dress code for all the events put on by the Southern Coterie called for the same!
A Moment for the Outfit: Mara Top & Mirabel Skirt
One of my favorite finds this “resort season” is the Tuckernuck’s Red & Pink Geo Knit Mara Top and Mirabel Skirt by Hyacinth House. These pieces are both sold separately. Which gives you the option to choose to pair them together – or mix them however you fancy.
The bold geometric pattern is retro and fresh, bringing mod 1960s beach vibes to a day by the water or a seaside evening soiree. Don’t even get me started on the oh-so-cozy knit material – it’s like wearing an actual blanket. Just one cropped in all the right places and decorated with fringe.
Gold, raffia, or even the simplest leather sandals would pair well with this look. I decided to play off the bright colors and style this set with red patent Bernardo Mary Janes for our evening event. This close to Valentine’s Day, I couldn’t resist!
My Travel Tip: Lean into “Effortless” charm that makes a statement
If you’re fortunate enough to find yourself flying off to a coast anytime soon. Any place somewhat tropical, or even warm for that matter … I encourage you to take the opportunity to embrace “resort style.” Leaning into pieces that are not only comfortable, but make more of a statement than your typical day-to-day.
I always think getaways are the best time to try a new trend. After all, when you step away from home that feeling of “nobody knows me here” … is the most fabulous of freeing!
