Summer is almost here! Well, in Houston it pretty much has already arrived. Ninety degree temperatures mean only one thing: summertime. And you know what else goes hand in hand with summer? Something I like MUCH more than ninety degree temperatures: Gingham, wicker, & white scalloped shorts.

To celebrate the arrival of summer, I’ve teamed up with J. McGlaughlin today to bring ya’ll this oh-so-chic casual weekend look. I’m pretty sure these white scalloped shorts are about to be my summertime staple. They are tailored just right and look great with a top tucked or untucked. Holla to the whole “tucking in” thing being back in style, I think it instantly polishes off any laid back look.

I’m planning on styling this gingham top all summer long with midi skirts, shorts & high waisted jeans. I also want to try out tying the bottom of the top at the waist with a few different bottoms. This versatile blue & white top is kind of like the modern day interpretation of Dorothy Gale’s (of Wizard of Oz fame) iconic blue gingham dress, don’t you think? All I need is a real life Toto to jump out of my picnic satchel.  Oh, and some ruby slippers!

Ya’ll….it’s FRIDAY! Hope you all have a fun & fabulous weekend! We’ve got friends in town all weekend long, which means one thing: time to play tourist in our city. Every time we take out of town friends out & about in Houston, I always seem to fall in love with this city more & more. It’s definitely a fun one to show off! If you’re a Houstonian, where do you like to take your out of town guests? I would love to hear some new ideas!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
