A Cheeky Office Space

Palm Leaf Printed Wallpaper Girly Office Space

I’m currently writing this post from 30,000 feet in the air, while on my way to Charleston for The Blog Societies Conference! Getting work accomplished on an airplane is so much better than at home or at work, right? No better view to check e-mails with than the view outside of an airplane window!

Speaking of work spaces, today I’m talking all about work-life-blog-life balances, my office space, and what I do outside of the blog on Monday through Friday!

For those of you that think blogging is my full-time gig, think again! In addition to pouring my heart & soul into Lone Star Looking Glass, I also spend forty hours a week working away as the Marketing Manager at the most adorable of vintage boutiques, Cheeky Vintage! (Follow us on insta!)

About two months ago I left my marketing position at francesca’s for this new role at Cheeky. Since I graduated from college, I’ve always worked for smaller companies, and after working in a bigger, busier & more “corporate” environment for a while, I was so excited to make the switch and settle into this new role at Cheeky.

For my Houston readers, (and those that plan to visit H-town!) Cheeky Vintage is in Upper Kirby and home to a curated collection of vintage pieces ranging from the 1940s all the way to the 1990s. From vintage Chanel suits & dresses to no-label one-of-a-kind fabulous frocks, Cheeky is the place to shop for a look that’s going to set you apart from the crowd!

A typical weekday for me starts at 7:00. I give myself 20 minutes of Today Show action then it’s blog time. I usually spend about an hour and a half working on this here blog of mine (answering emails, editing photos, writing posts, planning social media, etc) and then I get dressed & ready for Cheeky.

Having a little bit of a later start in the morning than a typical 9-5 has been so beneficial for the morning person in me! It’s wild how much I can get accomplished before 9 am! And by getting all of the blog stuff out of the way before work, my evenings are free for whatever may come my way. (Most of the time it’s Netflix + Blue Apron with Patrick, which is basically my favorite way to spend a work night!)

Once I roll into the office, I have all of my blog work for the day knocked out and I’m ready to focus on Cheeky.

My office space at Cheeky Vintage is seriously so adorable, sometimes I can’t handle it! My team left me a blank space with free range to decorate however I wished. (Score!) And naturally, I took them up on that opportunity.

I had been wanting to try out the removable wallpaper from Walls Need Love for ages. And I thought that this all white built in bookshelf & desk was the perfect place to experiment.

Luckily, the experiment did not go wrong, and this palm-printed wallpaper turned out oh-so-cute! It was super simple to cut each piece and adhere it to the walls. (Measuring might have been trickier than I expected!) But if the time ever comes that I ever want to change things up, it’s just as easy to remove the wallpaper is at was to stick it on.

By the time 5:30 rolls around, I’ve already put in a 10-hour workday. Sometimes I’ll have some last minute blog work to finish up as soon as I get home from work, but I try to have everything absolutely finished by 7pm at the latest.

That way I’m free to spend the evenings unwinding with a walk around the neighborhood with Patrick and the pups, followed by dinner & a movie!

I’m now looking out my window and I see the Atlantic ocean to me right! With the flight attendants asking us to stow away those larger electronics, it’s time I depart from this post and start my long weekend adventure! Be sure to follow along on Insta for a peek into what I’m up to!
