How do you wear flared jeans? You simply just put them on, zip & button. Easy as pie. But to pull off a bold pair of pants like these, I follow a few simple style tips when putting each outfit together. Today I’m sharing those with you in the hopes to give you a bit of confidence, style inspiration and the motivation to rock bold blue flares this season too. Head on down below to see more of this seventies inspired look, as well as details on these under $100 jeans that are a must-have for fall!

These blue jeans of mine are part of a collaboration between Wrangler and ModCloth. Wrangler is known for the long-lasting, genuine denim while vintage silhouettes and feminine details have always been part of ModCloth’s aesthetic. This collaboration gives shoppers great denim, at a great price point, in silhouettes that fit & flatter! I’m wearing a high-waisted pair which is great for pulling off that “half tuck” above and it’s right on trend for fall. I paired my flares with this adorable boho top from Goodnight Macaroon. It was my first time to shop their site and I am very pleased with the quality for the price. The fall colors in the embroidered details make this “white after labor day” look perfect for October!

Six Tips on Styling Flares

  1. The hems should not be too long or too short. When paired with heels, if about an inch or so of the bottom of your shoe shows, then it’s just right.

  2. Always opt for wedges or heels. While nothing beats the comfort of a pair of blue jeans & flats, flared jeans require a heel.  The height in the heels balances the body of the pant legs while flats tend to look sloppy when paired with flares. Plus, flats will eventually tear up the hems.

  3. Belt it. I may not be taking my own advice in these photos, but adding a belt to flares helps define the waist even more. Try tucking in a simple tee to make your chic belt stand out.

  4. Top it off with a structured piece. When it comes to outerwear, structured pieces are key. A bold blazer or a long trench paired with a tee or blouse make for a great polished weekend look.

  5. Avoid flares that overwhelm your legs. When shopping, make sure the flare starts at the knee and flows smoothly.

  6. Boho is better. Okay, this may just be my opinion, but I absolutely love the way flared denim looks with a billowy boho top like my white one above. The higher cut of this top makes it perfect for half-tucking it into pants and the subtle billowy sleeves play off the proportion of the flares below.

In other news, I’m in Atlanta this week for AmericasMart. I’m typing this blog post from my hotel room bed while looking out the window to the city from 40 floors up. It’s so surreal to be traveling without Annie! While I would love to say I had my first full night of sleep since she was born, I woke up so many times confused as to where I was and to where she was that that was not the case. Thankfully there was a Starbucks in the lobby & now I’m enjoying the peace and quiet of this lovely morning before we begin our day. Be sure to follow along and for a peek into our trip later these next few days!

And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
