Seriously. I need a time machine! What I would give to be waking up to crisp fall weather at Lodge on the Cove in Kennebunkport, Maine once more! Until that’s invented, diving into the colorful photos of this blog post will just have to do.
Last month, Patrick and I spent a week on the coast of Maine for our New England “Babymoon.” We stayed in Portland for a few nights and then headed 45 minutes south to Kennebunkport for the rest of our stay.
Lodge on the Cove, a chic modern motor lodge nestled on a scenic cove right in the middle of town, was our home away from home that weekend.

Crisp white buildings with contrasting lime green and bold blue accents stood out amongst the fall foliage surrounding Lodge on the Cove.
This family-friendly resort is bustling during the summer months, with a heated pool and activities galore. But we kind of liked the fact that it was a bit sleepier than usual. Something about the quiet mixed with the cold weather and fall leaves is just lovely!

Our spacious room featured nautical accents and an upbeat fun color palette.

At the center of the property sits the lodge.

With a view of the cove, cozy chairs, board games and books galore, we never wanted to leave!

Where else does your afternoon cup of tea come with a game of backgammon? I still am not entirely sure how to play it …. but we tried!

My absolute favorite part of our stay in Kennebunkport was hanging out in this little spot pictured above!

As soon we would wake up, we would start the day with coffee and head on down to the edge of the cove to sit back and soak up the views.
It was so nice to be able to actually bundle up! I can’t remember the last time I wore a sweater, scarf, uggs & hat all at the same time. #TexasProblems!

And I still can’t get over the goooorrrrggeeeous reflection of the trees in the water below!

So much so, that I had to sit & stare for a while.

And when I finally could take my eyes of the beautiful scenery, I let myself relax with a cup of tea and the third Outlander novel.
Typically people think of babymoons or honeymoons as beach vacations. You know, lounging around, reading books and looking at the scenery. We basically did just that, but in Maine! Although instead of bikinis it was wool sweaters & cozy scarves! 😉
The Lodge on the Cove is a seasonal resort open May – December. We loved our stay SO much that I know we’ll be back again soon. Most likely with baby girl in tow!
I’ll be sharing our favorite things we did in the town of Kennebunkport later this week, followed by one more Portland post. And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!

Kennebunkport is one of my favorite places! My best friend has a house there, so we spend a lot of our summer enjoying the beach and the main strip of shops. This location looks gorgeous!
