I spent Friday & Saturday this past weekend attending Houston’s very own blog conference, Thrive!
Thrive was held in The Woodlands, about 45 minutes north of Houston, and was put on by the lovely Whitney and Breanna of Observant Turtle & The Thing About Joy.
I can’t even begin to tell ya’ll how amazing these two are! They organized such a fabulous weekend filled with tons of fun, learning and blogger networking. But more on all of that a bit later. 🙂
To kick off the big weekend, a pre-party was thrown for all conference attendees at Market Street – The Woodlands.
Naturally, with all of the meeting & greeting, I had to get all dolled up for the event!
So this is where I must tell you all about the new beauty app that just launched in Houston: Blownaway.
Ladies, get ready, with Blownaway, you literally can have an affordable professional blowout … in your own home!
Blownaway is perfect for when you’re in a rush before a big event and don’t quite have the time to make it across town for a blowout. Or, you know, if you just want to spend your day leisurely getting ready in the comforts of your own home.
I was able to try Blownaway this weekend and …. I’m just going to be honest here.
I was blown … away. 🙂
All cheesy jokes aside, let me pause and tell you a bit about Blownaway.
The app was originally inspired by Uber. We all know how simple Uber is to use, and Blownaway is the same. With the user-friendly app, you can choose the hairstyle you want and schedule your appointment at the tap of a button. Super simple!
Currently only in Dallas and Houston, Blownaway will soon be launching in Atlanta later this month and San Francisco not long after.
The on-demand beauty app offers fun hairstyle options such as “The Red Carpet,” “The Manhattan,” and of course, Blownaway’s most popular – “The Dallas.”
I choose the Red Carpet. (because why not!?)
And yes, that is a margarita in my hand. 😛
The stylist was in and out in about an hour. With my hair styled to perfection, it was so nice to be in the comforts of my own home where I could quickly do my makeup, throw on my party clothes, and be out the door so soon after.
Especially because Thrive’s kick off event was calling my name.
And my new do’ was certainly ready for the party.
Market Street – The Woodlands hosted our get together that evening. We were treated to sips, sweets and spring collection previews at stores such as Elaine Turner, Cosbar, Michael Kors, Tommy Bahama and Trina Turk.
I absolutely love popping in Trina Turk, because no matter the season you know you’re in for fun bright colors in one-of-a-kind prints.
We kicked off the conference weekend by doing what we do best, shopping. 🙂
And eating tasty (super good for you) treats, too.
Soon after, we all got
together to end the evening with a toast to Thrive at Langford Market.
The ladies of the hour, Breanna and Whitney, did such a fabulous job organizing Friday’s events. Also, how amazing do they both look in their beautiful Trina Turk dresses?!
