Did you guys see our exciting announcement on Instagram and Snapchat last weekend!?! Patrick and I are officially expecting a GIRL! Words can’t even describe how excited I am about this baby girl’s addition to our family!
Today I’m talking all about my thoughts on being a “girl mom” and sharing my first take on maternity style. This post is a bit of a longer one, so grab a cup of coffee and stay for a while! 😉
& to celebrate our little one on the way, I’m also giving away a pair of Freshly Picked leather moccasins to one lucky winner for their own little one! How adorable are these platinum ones I’m holding in the photo above?!!
{More details on the giveaway at the bottom of this post!}
Since my first American Girl Bitty Baby (her name was Lydia), way back in 1992, I’ve daydreamed about one day being a “mom.” Can you believe we start “pretending” to be moms too as early as three years old!? Nuts!
I’ve always known that I wanted to be a mom and I had fantasized in my head about one day having a large rambunctious family complete with three (or more) kiddos and two golden retrievers. We already have the goldens checked off that list 😉
I feel beyond blessed to have not had any trouble getting pregnant (something I’m not taking for granted at all) so I’m incredibly thankful that this next stage in our lives is actually here! (While also completely shocked that all of this is real at the same time!)
Patrick and I both come from families of three kids, with boys leading the packs as the first-born. So naturally I always assumed we would have a little boy first.
But for some reason, I intuitively just knew that our little one on-the-way was a girl. I even accidentally said, “hi, little girl” to my belly once or twice, weeks before we even received the gender results. I would think “oops, why on earth did I just do that!?” I guess I knew she was a she before I actually knew!
Now that I know she’s a SHE, I’ve had some time to wrap my head around the fact that I have a daughter! (WOw!) I’m envisioning tea parties, playing dress up, watching Disney movies, smocked dresses, dance lessons (with hilariously adorable recitals to follow), and so much more in our future!
I can’t wait to teach her all of the things that my mom taught me and watch her grow into her own beautiful and unique person. I’m definitely in for a wild ride!

Now that my belly has “popped,” stylish maternity clothing has entered the equation! I’m not going to lie, I’ve had trouble finding comfortable things to wear in my current wardrobe. Sure, my maxi dresses and flowy shift dresses will work for a while, but the way a maternity dress is cut is actually so much more flattering … and so much more comfortable!
No surprise then that I’m loving this blue and white floral one from PinkBlush. It’s soft and super stretchy and I know it will fit great the bigger I get. I’m looking forward to styling it with vests and booties come fall. Plus, at just $52, it’s not much of an investment for a piece you’re only going to wear for 6 months or so.
While I love shopping for clothes more than your average 20-something gal, (fashion blogger cough cough) shopping for clothes for my little girl has been the MOST fun I think I’ve ever had. And I seriously can’t get over how adorable these baby moccasins are from Freshly Picked.
Freshly Picked moccasins come in so many different colors, prints, and sizes from newborn all the way up to size 13. This daisy pair and rose gold pair are next on my list, now that we know we’re having a girl!
To celebrate Baby Kerley, and to give you all a little treat, I’m teaming up with Freshly Picked to give one lucky winner their own pair of baby moccasins, in any size or color of your choosing. Giveaway ends Friday, 7/29 and a winner will be contacted on Saturday 7/30. To enter to win, head over to THIS instagram photo and follow the instructions in the caption and you’re all set!
Good luck to all who enter (and good luck to the winner for picking just one color! They’re all so cute!!)
And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
