Dark Floral Mini Dress + a 32 Week Bumpdate

Texas fashion blogger styles Trina Turk's Grandeur Dress with a black Zac Posen Crocodile Bag and Over the Knee Boots.

Somehow, I’m rocking a fitted floral mini dress at 32-weeks pregnant. Gotta thank sizing up and stretchy material for that one! But this post today is to encourage all moms-to-be, that yes, you CAN still wear non-maternity pieces long into pregnancy. Spoiler alert: just not always in your original size.

Today I’m sharing my secret to finding oh-so-cute non-maternity pieces that’ll still work with my bump & I’m sharing an update on all things pregnancy/baby at 32-weeks!

My secret to non-maternity stunners that still work with the bump? Rent the Runway! I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how many of their pieces work for my changing body. And don’t let these photos fool you, my bump is seriously HUGE right now. Scroll up to the snap above taken from the side angle and you’ll believe me!

With Rent the Runway, you can order a dress in two different sizes, in the hopes of finding that perfect fit. With everything I’ve been ordering lately, I’ve picked TWO sizes above my pre-pregnancy size. While I was once a 2, I’m now trying dresses in 4 and 6. And the 6’s are what’s working actually, especially for the fitted dresses. When you’re trying to find a bump-friendly dress from RTR, you can filter your search by actually checking a box that shows all of their bump-friendly styles. But don’t be afraid to try something that might not show up in that filter! Just be sure to read the reviews beforehand, to see how it runs. I noticed that this particular dress was on the stretchier side from the review, so I’m not surprised it works just perfectly.

Ps: You might see a familiar face when checking out their new StylePass subscription!

32-Week Bumpdate

Size: Our little girl is right around 4 pounds now and as heavy-as-can-be!  I definitely can feel a little human moving around in there, poking bones and all. My “What to Expect” app is telling me she’s as big as a butternut squash. Fitting for Thanksgiving week!

Feeling: Still pretty great! I can tell in the evenings that I realllly don’t want to do anything other than watch TV or read my book. But my energy in the morning is still pretty high, thank goodness. Oh and bending over, there’s NONE of that. And waddling? There’s definitely a little bit of that!

Name: It’s a good thing we didn’t announce her name to the world just yet, because, we’ve changed it! Well, only her middle name. But I was convinced the first one we picked was “it.” Now I’m loving the new one 1000x more and I’m so glad we had a change of heart.

Cravings: Special K strawberry cereal, strawberry toaster strudels & toast with strawberry jam. I’m noticing a trend here.

Recent Highlights: We attended both Life with Baby Class and Prepared Childbirth. Both were AMAZING and I highly recommend them for first-time parents. You think you know what to expect but really, you have no idea. These classes did such a great job preparing us. Oh, and in the childbirth class, we tested our pain tolerance and how we dealt with the pain by holding a frozen water balloon. Let’s just say, my pain tolerance is extremely low. Surprise! Labor is gonna be interesting! But I’m so glad to have Patrick by my side, because he was amazing at calming me down while being forced to hold said frozen water bottle. 😉

Up Next: Two more ultrasounds (yay I get to see baby girl on TV!) and I start visiting my doc bi-weekly now. We’re in the homestretch!

Nursery: We finally re-painted the room and I’m in love with the new color. The crib has been set up, curtains installed and some of the art has been hung too. We also just ordered this teepee for her room and I can not wait to be a part of all of the adventures that will be had inside it!

Third Trimester Favorites:

  • All these pretty baby girl dresses from my cousin’s kids line Peg & Kris! She spoiled me rotten at my baby shower. Perks of having another (kid-friendly) fashionista in the fam!
  • This top and these bottoms from Legoe. I’ve been absolutely living in them when I’m at home lounging about. I love that they will work for after baby too!
  • This adorable moses basket from Plum & Sparrow. I’m thinking I’ll order a stand for it and use it as her bassinet in our bedroom for the first few months too.
  • This pregnancy wellness tea.  There’s something about a hot cup of tea, a good book and an afternoon with no plans that equals complete bliss in my opinion. I love that this tea is designed especially for moms-to-be.
  • My snoogle. I thought I needed it while I was in the early stages of my 2nd-trimester. Never knew how much I would depend on a noodle shaped pillow but I literally can’t sleep without it now!

Thank you all for following along on all my baby bump updates! I’ve had so much fun sharing the details about my pregnancy and baby-girl to be with you all! Now to find a way to print all of these little updates and store them in a scrapbook for later .. because I’m totally that type of person! 😉
