I’m sharing something a little different today & giving you guys a peek into my home. I’m also chatting about how we keep our eyes on it all the time, even while traveling, with Blink.
Since Annie came into our lives, everything has changed and I can tell Patrick has really enjoyed filling that “protector of the home/family” role. Over the holidays he mentioned he wanted to start exploring different home security surveillance options. Once we discovered Blink, I too realized how important it was to have an extra set of eyes on our home at all times. After all, I spend my days inside with my little one and having a home security system provides us with an extra level of comfort that I’m so thankful for.
sidenote: this bookshelf is a vintage swim locker from the 1940s that we scored at an antique shop years ago!
Blink’s security systems are not only sleek & stylish (blending right into your decor) but they are also affordable too starting at just $99. With indoor and outdoor cameras available, you can survey any part of your home that you wish. The small cameras capture motion and will send video clips directly to your smartphone via the app in a “blink” of an eye. 😉
We have a few both inside and outside our home. At first, I thought, why would we monitor the inside of our home? It just felt strange. Then I got to thinking … we are out of town A LOT! And you really just never know what could happen – break-ins, weather-related incidents, who knows! Having Blink installed definitely gives us peace of mind when we’re out of town.
When Hurricane Harvey hit last August, I really wish we had already installed Blink in hindsight. We evacuated to stay with family in Mississippi and left not knowing whether or not our house was underwater for several days. It was such a scary time and having a home security surveillance system like this one where we could see the current state of our home from anywhere – would have reallllllly eased that anxiety.
It also makes me feel so much more comfortable that the exterior doors are always being monitored – especially because I’m home all day with Annie. Sometimes I’ll even get a text from Patrick while he’s at work asking what specific package got delivered, … when I didn’t even realize it was delivered! We both get alerts on our phone anytime anyone visits the front door. The video also saves too, in case you need to pull it up later.
One time Annie and I were playing outside and she ran to the front door to see the dogs through the glass and started talking to them. It was the cutest thing!! Needless to say, we saved the video and go back and watch it all the time!
It took no time at all to set up our wireless cameras and connect them to the app. And the batteries last up to two years – so we don’t have have to worry about that for quite some time. Blink really has become part of our daily lives, not only checking on what may have been delivered from Amazon that day but we also get a kick out of seeing ourselves walk in and out of the front door too. When we’re away from home, we feel that much better leaving our home behind knowing that we can always keep an eye on it from afar.
Big thank you to Blink for sponsoring this blog post and giving us an extra set of eyes on our home. As always, all opinions are my own. Thanks to you guys for supporting the brands that make Lone Star Looking Glass possible.
