My Take on Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Sure, I love a good sale but these days, sales typically don’t get me out the door to shop. When they do, I usually end up buying things I absolutely do not need! I had planned to avoid the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale altogether this year. Mostly being because we have a lot of travel plans and various big things going on this summer the thought of buying an unnecessary coat or sweater I wouldn’t wear for several months just felt utterly insane!!

But when a lovely friend of mine invited me to pre-shop the sale early with her special access pass, obviously I couldn’t resist. Gah! I have no spine! So when I went into Nordstrom last week, I gave myself a set spending limit and only *allowed* myself to shop for pieces that I could without a doubt see myself wearing over & over & over again.

This isn’t a “what to shop” blog post or a highlight of the best steals and deals from the sale but an honest opinion of what I thought the best finds were for me. I’m the type of person who loves statement pieces and its weirdly hard for me to purchase those comfy basics that I end up living in when I do. So for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (as everyone likes to call it) I focused on scooping up those incredibly comfy items that I normally don’t treat myself to. And just a week after my purchase, I’ve already worn most of what I’ve bought multiple times too!

If you’re like me and on the hunt for cozy, comfortable and practical finds from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I’m sharing my thoughts on the five things that came home with me below!

PS: I’m also dishing on the sale’s shoe collections and sharing what I WISH could have come home with me! There were some pairs that tempted me so much I’m still thinking about them today … it’s a sign right?! Anywho, more below!

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top Picks

Oh-So-Cozy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Pajama Set

This is one of those things that everyone should own. But do they? Up until last week, I wore my husband’s hand me down t-shirts with jersey cotton shorts to sleep. Now I’m feeling like the fanciest person in the world while wearing my matching two-piece pajama set. I bought this one in the gray stripe. It also comes in navy and blush.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale price is $42 and the quality feels similar to something you might find elsewhere for double or triple the price. (Not that I’m that familiar with fancy pajamas … but I did use to work at Anthropologie and this set feels just as soft as their’s seemed to feel back in the day!)

NSALE Plaid Shirt to Layer All Fall Long

Plaid becomes my uniform of sorts when fall weather welcomes us. My closet is sprinkled with plaid shirts, dresses, scarves &, etc. I have a few I’ve been able to wear season after season. Some of which are so loved that they are starting to look a bit worse for wear. I thought this one piece would be my “plan ahead for fall” purchase and I’m so glad I brought this shirt home with me. The red plaid print is going to be great for layering and I love that the back hem falls longer for a more casual laid back feel. You could even throw it on over a pair of leggings too!

Amazing Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Lounge Wear so You Can Netflix Binge in Style

I must have been tired or just in a “blah I want to do nothing but sit on the couch” type of mood while we were out shopping. Everything I gravitated towards had to do with being at one’s ultimate comfort. This lounge set included. I’ve seen other bloggers showing off their loungewear sets on stories and have totally felt like I was missing out. Pajamas that are socially acceptable for wearing ALL day long?! Sign me up!

I picked this one in gray. (I like my neutrals when it comes to wardrobe basics.) But I’m also wishing I tried this blue set on while in-store. It looks like there might have a bit more structure to it than my gray set, which means my loungewear would be appropriate for even more activities!

A Simple NSALE White Tee

I gushed about this Everlane tee last week. And it’s still my favorite in my closet. But while I was at Nordstrom, I picked up one of their most basic white tees from BP on sale for only $11.90 because … I feel like you can just never have enough! Or is it just me that seems to never be able to find my favorite white tees when I’m looking for them!?

& The Softest, Coziest, Most Amazing Sweater You’ll Ever Wear

You would think this was one of those purchases I made with plans to wear this sweater come fall. Nope. I’ve worn it at home pretty much every day. Don’t tell Patrick, but I even turned the AC up one afternoon so I could justify wearing this sweater. It’s seriously that soft, y’all. This is another NSale item I feel like I’ve heard all of my blogger friends talk about – the coveted Barefoot Dreams Cardigan. Wearing one is like having a teddy bear hugging you, all. day. long!!!

This one comes in a few colors but I chose a neutral cream so I could layer it over dresses, tops and denim come fall – you know, when it’s actually appropriate to wear said sweater and leave the house in it ha!

So there you have it, the five pieces that came home with me and that I’m so glad I scooped up this year! What you’ll find below are a few items that I saw while shopping and if money grew on trees and I had an endless amount of closet space, I wouldn’t complain a bit if they jumped into my shopping bag. 😉
