How are you guys doing today?! The sun is shining again in Memphis which means Annie and I can get out of the house for a little bit … even if it’s only to the backyard. But we have been exploring some of the local parks and gardens that just reopened in town and it has been so good for both of our souls to have a change of scenery.  How have you been soaking up the sun these days?

Today, I’m sharing a traditional style post about my 20 weeks pregnant bump update and a look at a bump-friendly spring sundress I’m swooning over! I’m also chatting all about life lately, how I’m doing at 20 weeks pregnant, and rounding up my current favorites for pregnancy + baby boy to be! More below …

20 Weeks Pregnant Bump Update

Mid Way Musings

Time feels like it’s going in both fast forward and slow motion these days. How is it already mid-May? How am I already halfway through this pregnancy? Turns out doing the same thing day after day in quarantine can really seem to mentally speed things up. But last weekend we did something a little different. We took out all of the guest room furniture, installed baby boy’s crib and started sprucing up the space for his arrival. It seems like my nesting instincts have kicked in and I’m now feeling the need to prep for him in any and every way that I can.

We thought to ourselves, “Oh, we don’t need to buy anything for another baby … we already have everything we need from the first one.” Well, we went through all 5 crates of Annie’s clothing from size 0 months to 3T and were only able to make a small little pile work for baby boy from some of her “gender-neutral” pieces. (Annie’s cousins are in for a treat with the rest of her precious hand me downs!) But sure, we have the big basics like strollers, car seats, a bassinet, and that sort of thing. That feels like a big relief for sure. Furnishing another bedroom/nursery and filling all the holes of little things (like onesies, swaddles, bibs & etc.) is starting to feel a tad overwhelming, though. I’ve got 4.5 months of this pregnancy left – plenty of time to online shop since it doesn’t look like I’ll be stepping into a Target anytime soon.

Mamas, where are (or were) your favorite places to shop for baby boys? It feels like a whole new world (and it totally is) planning for a little BOY!

Speaking of shopping, this pretty smocked ruffled dress is a recent find from Revolve. It makes for a great summer sundress and I’m also thinking it’ll make for a fabulous beach coverup this summer too. The quality is amazing, as it always seems to be with Revolve. The shoes I’m donning today are cork sandals (now on sale) from Bernardo. I’ve adored this brand for years now and am always in awe with their fresh take on classic silhouettes season after season.

Time for a 20 Weeks Pregnant Bump Update Q & A!

Baby is the size of?: A Banana (& according to The Bump app … also a microphone)

Cravings?: Sweets & cereal! It’s ironic because I just looked back at my 20-week bumpdate post during Annie’s pregnancy where I mentioned I had just eaten three bowls of Cap’n Crunch cereal. I just had a bowl of it this morning too! Pretty sure I haven’t eaten it since my last pregnancy too. Funny how the body just “knows” what it wants. Even though … Cap’n Crunch cereal is probably not the best choice at the moment … but small doses should be just fine.

Feeling?: Great! Thanks to a boost from my prenatal vitamins, a healthy diet (when I’m not eating Cap’n Crunch) and plenty of sleep. Speaking of sleep, we FINALLY got our toddler to stick to “waking up when the light turns green” on her Hatch nightlight. It’s unreal. Life-changing. Amazing. She enjoys waking up when the sun does (even though she has blackout curtains) and her parents … not so much. Now that Annie has figured out she can play in her room until the color of her nightlight changes … it feels like we all just opened up a whole new chapter on our lives. For months, we will have more sleep, at least!

Nursery Update?: I mentioned we installed his crib last weekend. It looks so good against the teal walls! We moved the glider in there along with a bunch of stuffed animals that Big Sister Annie decided to pass down to little bro. I’m now on the hunt for a vintage mid-century dresser to also act as the changing table. We’re still looking for a new rug and possibly a daybed to go into the space. I’m loving this one from World Market that fits a twin mattress. It could also be a spot for Annie to sleep when we have guests, having just upgraded her twin bed with our queen guest bed. We definitely have a long way to go here but it’s exciting to see it starting to come together.

Looking Forward to?: Last pregnancy my answer to this question was something like “seeing my out of town family, my first baby shower, date nights with Patrick, our babymoon to Maine.” My pregnancy journey with Annie was such a wonderful experience & for that, I’m so thankful. The world is very different this go-round and many of the experiences I had last time will not happen this pregnancy. We had a Scottsdale babymoon planned this summer we canceled (totally plan to go in 2021 though!) and I don’t foresee any date nights in the future. But I’m honestly so fine with all of that, given the circumstances. The only thing I’m hoping that does work out is that we get to see our extended out of town family before fall.  So really, the thing I’m looking forward to the most this pregnancy is our due date! But I’m patient too, knowing these last four more months are going to be such a special time for us with our little Annie.

a roundup of a few things I’ve maternity outfits I’ve shopped recently & what I’m buying & loving for baby boy for those interested!

Thank you all for stopping by & following along. Hope you are enjoying beautiful spring weather today, wherever you are!

xo, alice
