Summer Styling Soirée with Anthropologie

First of all, thank you to all who were able to stop by the Summer Styling Party I hosted last Thursday with Anthropologie! I’ve always been the biggest fan of the brand, in case you haven’t noticed yet! So naturally, I was absolutely thrilled about hosting this event  here in Houston.

I’ve been shopping at Anthropologie for as long as I can remember. We didn’t have one in Memphis, while I was growing up.  So every time we would visit Atlanta or Nashville, Anthro was one of the first places I wanted to go!
I still remember the first dress I bought! It had a yellow brocade skirt attached to a white ruffly tank, with a red bow to finish it off.  This was right around the cusp of Facebook getting huge, where you could still wear the same dress to every Christmas party (with different people of course) and nobody would know! I wore that dress oh-so much and have such sweet memories of the events I wore it to!
The thing that I’ve always associated with Anthropologie’s clothing are the items you buy here are such exquisite pieces that you tend to wear them for monumental or “bigger” moments, causing you to always associate fun/strong memories. That’s just one of the many things I love about fashion!

Before the event began, I pulled about 10 different summery styled looks to share with everyone.
Couldn’t have done it without the help of Anthropologie at Highland Village’s Personal Shoppers Sara & Kesslie! (Quick PSA: You guys, these two ladies are absolutely amazing. You should realllllly get in touch with them when shopping Anthro! They’ll help you find exactly what you’re looking for and are both as sweet as can be!)
Themed outfits fitting to be worn to everything from the farmer’s market, to date night, to a couples’ shower and to a baseball game were on display.
I had so much fun styling all of these looks, that it was so hard not to take them all home with me at the end of the night! From striped summer sundresses to pastel pants and floral kimonos, there was the perfect mix of everything you’d want out of your summer wardrobe.

Guests started to trickle in and the styled looks were ready to be seen. I had so much fun seeing everyone, chatting the night away and meeting new bloggers and fashionistas!
The selection of southern sips and sweets that Anthropologie served got the party in full swing! Not a detail was left un-turned for the event and the southern treats included Texas Tea cocktails, pimento cheese sandwiches, rosemary skewers and petit fours.  I love how the event’s overall theme reflected the look and feel of the Lone Star Looking Glass – blue and white decor and a whole lot of sweet southern flare.

So many sweet friends and lovelies from the Houston blogger community came out to mingle and shop. I’ve mentioned this a number of times on here, but I am so thankful for finding this blogger group here in Houston!
All of these fabulous women go out of their way to support one another, while also sharing tips and tricks from their own blogs to build up a friend’s. If you’re a Houston blogger and don’t know where to begin when getting involved in the blogging community, please send me an e-mail! I’d love to chat!

About midway through the evening, I shared a brief presentation with all of the guests discussing my summer style picks.
Not going to lie, I was a bit nervous! And I may or may not have written out my “speech” on napkins at the coffee shop earlier that day.  But thankfully it went off without a hitch!
Take that college public speaking 101!

One thing I really wanted to share with everyone was a rule of thumb that I always follow when getting dressed for the day.  I try to not leave the house without wearing at least three distinct pieces.  For example, if I’m going to wear a sundress and heels, I’ll add either a belt or a chunky necklace to give the outfit a bit more interest.  If I have on jeans and a solid top, I’ll probably throw on a colorful scarf or a sun hat to add some “oomph” to it.
When following this little “rule,” I always feel much more put together. And it also makes getting dressed for the day that much more fun!
Thank you again to all the sweet friends who came out for the summer styling soirée! And one more shout out to Kesslie & Sara (above!) I had too much fun planning and throwing this party with the two of them!

And I couldn’t possibly wrap things up with out a thanks to my momma! She flew in from Tennessee for the event (and for a long girl’s weekend in Fredericksburg that was soon to follow.) I had so much fun styling her in this pretty Anthro dress for the party. Nobody tells you that playing stylist/dressing up your mom is so much fun!! I was so glad she was not only able to make it to the party and meet all of my Houston “people” too!
If you have an Anthro in your town, (and you’re also in need of some serious mid-summer shopping) you’ve got to pop in and see their new collection of pretty summery frocks & accessories. My wish list is now about a mile long. 😉 A big thank you again to Anthropologie and to everyone who came out for the event!  It was such a lovely evening!
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
