Houston has some of the best shopping in the entire country! And no, I’m not just saying that to try to get my Tennessee friends to come down and visit me, again. But if it’s working, then that’s fine by me!
Since living in H-town, the fashionista in me has been blown away by the many different shopping centers, malls & local boutiques dotted throughout town. One of my favorites, in particular, is River Oaks Shopping Center, right in the center of Houston.
Today I’m taking y’all on a little shopping journey through River Oaks Shopping Center with me and sharing a look at this cozy & comfortable winter outfit – perfect for hitting the stores during the holidays!
Holiday Shopping at River Oaks Shopping Center:
The baby bump and I are officially 9 months pregnant, which means a whole lot of my clothes really don’t fit! I headed over to Salt Studio Boutique in River Oaks Shopping Center to find a festive holiday look that still fit the bump.
What I thought might be a challenge was actually pretty simple! The team of two sisters who own Salt Studio were SO helpful. One of them found this fab red & green button down for me. Worn open & over a flowy tee, I’ve got a perfectly polished laid back look fit for any stage of pregnancy.
I paired it with a thick black choker, also from Salt Studio, for a bit of “edge.” 😉
An afternoon of holiday shopping is not complete without a warm cup of coffee! Two Starbucks sit at opposite corners of the same street here at River Oaks Shopping Center. You know that means it’s a popular & bustling little spot then!
Tall palm trees line Gray Street, playing off the shopping center’s bright art deco architecture.
From J.McLaughlin (one of my favs!), Sur La Table, Ann Taylor, to Natural Pawz (the cutest pet store!), there’s something for everyone on your Christmas list at this holiday shopping destination. The big Barnes & Noble is hands down my favorite spot. I could get lost in that bookstore for HOURS, which quite frankly is what I did after we snapped these photos. 🙂
And shh ….. Santa shops here too!
There’s no better treat in my opinion than capping off a busy day on your feet with a movie. River Oaks Theater was opened in 1939 and is Houston’s oldest movie theater. Today, the theater has kept that old-school feel to it and when you walk through the double doors you almost feel like you’re going back in time.
Theater-goers can grab a cocktail at the bar and take them into the theater with them too! For me, I opted for hot chocolate on this chilly chilly Houston day!
By the way, the movie The Dressmaker is AMAZING!
Thank you all for following along my mini-adventure at River Oaks Shopping Center! There’s nothing like a fun afternoon of holiday shopping to get you into the Christmas spirit!
