Happy Friday! Can I just say that I am absolutely obsessed with the outfit in today’s blog post? It’s probably the most comfortable laid back look that I’ve styled on here in ages. And to be honest, it’s outfits like these that I tend to live in 24/7. But more details on this look below. First things first, I can’t wait to share that I will finally be knocking something HUGE off my blogger (& life) bucket list next month. I’ll be attending New York Fashion Week and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m sharing details on why I decided to go (sort of at the last minute) and my thoughts on NYFW from a newbie’s perspective all in today’s post!
Okay so this outfit: It’s crazyyyy comfortable. My top was a Zara find but I also found it linked here for only $20. I sized up to a medium and I love the oversized slouchy fit. The little cactus details appear to be as if they are painted on which gives it a fun Southwestern touch. I paired this striped button down with my trusty boyfriend jeans, these fabulous platform sandals from Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn & a crossbody that goes with absolutely everything. Now excuse me while I go hop out of my pjs and put on this exact outfit for the rest of my Friday!

Now for my big news. I’m going to NYFW! AHH!!! This is something that I’ve wanted to do since before I even started blogging. Once I realized it was an actual possibility, every year my head would start spinning with plans to attend. Each summer I would try to make the September trip work, but with work schedules and lack of vacation time in previous years it just never seemed to pull itself together. Now that I am not bound by a traditional schedule, I knew I had to take advantage of this “once and a lifetime opportunity” and make it work!
After a happy hour with the girls filled with NYFW chit-chat, I decided just this week that I simply can’t miss out! My plane tickets are booked and I’ll be up there for the majority of the week! Now that I’ve decided to go, that real work comes in. You can’t just show up to the Tory Burch runway show and say, “Hey, can I pop in!?” (Although that would make life pretty easy, huh!) There is a whole lot of behind the scenes preparation that takes place beforehand. For the next several weeks I’ll be pitching myself & Lone Star Looking Glass to PR reps in the hopes of attending their designer’s runway shows. (I literally have a 7-page spreadsheet right next to me with contacts I’m checking off my list!)
After talking with bloggers who’ve attended season after season, I hear that if you put in the work, almost any blogger can have a full and fabulous fashion week schedule. In just two days of pitching, I’ve already made the list for two runway shows. After each “yes” email I find that I just want to stand up and do a little happy dance! Anywho, I have my work cut out for me the next three weeks to prep and make my first NYFW experience a success. I’ll be sharing all sorts of tidbits leading up to the big week. Thanks in advance for following along!
