A Striped Dress for the TX Coast

Greetings from 10,000 feet! I’m sipping on ginger ale on an airplane right now and headed to the Coast of Texas. Corpus Christi to be precise. I’ll be spending the next four days with Texas Tourism to explore several of the cities along the gulf and I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity!

If you haven’t noticed already, I’m determined to explore as much of the lone star state as I can. And South Texas is a region I’ve yet to visit. Our group has a jam-packed schedule these next few days and will be visiting different destinations in Rockport, Port Aransas, Corpus Christi and Mustang Island.

I’m sharing a bit more about why I’m headed down South, what it feels like to be traveling solo, and of course…details on this adorable dress too! Head on down for the rest of the post …

As we all know, the Texas Gulf was severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey in August of 2017. Thankfully, with time and generous support from not only the state but also the entire US of A, the Texas Coast is back open and in business! I’ll be visiting many of the affected areas with several other travel bloggers and the Texas Tourism team in the hopes to share with you all just how fabulous of a destination the coast of Texas can be. (After every picture I’ve seen, and everything I’ve read … I can’t tell y’all how thrilled I am to be checking it out! I’m sure I’ll fall instantly in love.)

Anywho, as this is a media-based trip, I’m actually traveling solo at the moment. No Patrick or Annie. (insert crying emoji here) But at the same time, I’m thankful for this opportunity for independence to relax, reset, and rediscover “me.” I mean, the fact that I’m actually typing away on a laptop right now instead of toddler wrangling/playing with magnetic mermaids is beyond me. It’s kind of nice to feel like my own person again and have a little bit of me time here and there. (And also to drink a cup of coffee on a plane again!)

But I just can’t look at my phone!! Because as soon as I see a picture of Annie I get that feeling in my throat that usually comes from watching a sad rom-com where I’m trying to fight back all the tears so nobody will see me actually crying. You know what I’m talking about right!? This is my first time to leave Annie on a trip now that she’s a full-fledged toddler and it feels a lot different than when she was a baby. She has become so much more of a “person.” With a blooming personality who can vocalize her thoughts & feelings, in her own way of course. I’m curious as to how she will do without me this week and I’m already counting down the minutes until I see her again.

Until then, I plan to soak up every moment of the girl-time I’m about to have along the colorful coast of Texas!

And last but not least, I’ve got to mention this perfect-for-spring striped dress from Eliza J. Eliza J always makes high-quality gorgeous pieces that can often easily be styled both up and down. This off-the-shoulder number works both as a cover-up & a party dress. I went the peachy-vibe route and paired it with neutral summer sandals, tassel earrings and a hat fitting for a tropical destination. All of which would fit right into where I’m currently headed!

And just like that … we’re already about to land! Be sure to follow along on instagram to see what we’re up to!
