How I “Feed” My Hair

Happy Friday! I’m coming at y’all today with a bit of beauty instead of fashion or travel. I haven’t talked much about styling my hair or what I’ve been putting into it in quite a LONG time … mainly because my hair has gone through SUCH a transformation since Annie was born. Like … wow.

I remember during pregnancy, sometimes I’d look in the mirror and just be flabbergasted at how full & beautiful I felt my hair was at the time. Since then, it has decided to thin out and sprout tiny little “baby hairs” here there & everywhere. And I have just been at my wits end on what to do about it! But the one thing that has stayed consistent throughout this whole experience is my hair’s health. I recently tried Hair Food, a natural based line of hair products, and it has made my hair feel more luxurious than ever.

More about Hair Food below + the two tools I use to tame my locks each and every day. I’m also sharing the ONE thing I have to do differently to my hair each day – post baby. Head on down for more ….

I love the name Hair Food because it is literally … food for your hair. People are so much more mindful of what they put into their bodies than they used to be. This holds true for what we put to our bodies right? Because it is basically the same thing. Hair Food is inspired by thoughtful ingredients – basically superfoods without any parabens or mineral oils depending on the collection. Think natural substances such as kiwis, honey, apricots, and figs. Yum! I want to eat them all!

I’m a Texas girl (now) so the bigger the hair the better! I have been using Hair Food’s Volume collection in the hopes to achieve just that. Infused with kiwi & figs, it sure is a sweet-smelling way to get thicker & more voluminous locks!

I typically have to wash my hair every other day or it gets pretty greasy. Dry shampoo helps in a pinch but I much prefer the feeling of a fresh blowout. I’ve been using this hair dryer and I absolutely love how quickly it dries my locks. It also turns off by itself if you set it down on the counter – which is great if you need a moment to brush out your hair.

This curling wand also gets used each and every day. It heats up super quickly and I can run it through my hair in less than 5 minutes. I guess that is the bright side of having thinner as opposed to fuller hair? Takes less time to curl! I also feel like a curling wand creates more natural looking curls as opposed to curling irons with the traditional clamps.

So the one thing that I have to do to my hair every day (or at least the days I don’t throw it up in a topknot) now that I’ve had a baby?

STRAIGHTEN it! I haven’t straightened my hair since college. But now I have to go in and straighten these three pieces above both of my ears that are about two inches long and loooove to curl themselves crazy. These hairs sprouted thanks to a shift in my hormones after having Annie and they totally have a mind of their own. If I don’t tame them, they poke out like crazy. Fellow mamas out there – did this happened to y’all too!?

So I snapped the pic above on a somewhat windy day after playing in the park with Annie. BUT you can still see that my ends are super fresh and my hair is healthy as a horse. I haven’t gotten it cut in months and I’m thrilled to see no split ends in sight! I’m still desperate for thicker longer hair but am holding out on getting any sort of extensions for the time being. I know that with a toddler …. that could be disastrous and painful. So I’m so glad that there are shampoos & conditioners on the market which can give my hair just the boost it needs!

I had such fun chit-chatting about all things hair with yall! And big thank you to Hair Food for sponsoring this post & sending along their sweet-smelling shampoo & conditioner for me to try. I love sharing new beauty, fashion & travel finds with you all and I definitely plan on including more beauty-related content in the coming months. Thanks for stopping by!
