Has it already been several months since we were in Oregon? Oh, my goodness, time is flying! Now that Annie is in Mother’s Day Out I’m finding that I actually have the time to sit and sort through all of the photos we snapped. And boy did we take a ton! So much so, that these blooming Oregon tulip fields deserved their very own blog post.

If you’ve ever been on Pinterest, then you’ve probably seen pictures of the colorful rolling fields of tulips. Often there’s a stylish blogger wearing a sundress and straw hat in them too. Most of the time, those photos are snapped in the famous Dutch tulip fields in the Netherlands. Something that you may not know, is that we have similar swoon-worthy tulip fields here in the United States too. Each spring, Mt. Hood Territory, outside of Portland, Oregon, boasts the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. It is something that every traveler needs to add to their bucket list!

The number one attraction on our Mt. Hood Territory list was a visit to the rainbow tulip fields at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. It was a much chillier day than anticipated, for mid-April.  And even though the clouds hid our view of majestic Mt. Hood, I can’t complain a single bit. Because we dodged the rainy weather and were still able to frolick through the fields!

Tip: Pack shoes that you are 100% okay with getting covered in mud when visiting these Oregon tulip fields. Because there is a greeeeeaaaat chance that they will!

In every direction, tulips bloomed and blossomed in all different colors for as far as the eye could see. It was truly magical letting Annie loose in the flower fields to see the tulips up close for herself.

We got Annie her very own pair of little Hunter rainboots (that also match mine, I might add) for the trip and they were absolutely perfect!

In homage to the flower fields in the Netherlands, Dutch influences were present throughout the festival. We even left with a set of ceramic wooden shoes to put on Annie’s bookshelf as a memento of our Oregon tulip fields trip.

After you’ve had your fill of the fields (which is nearly impossible, I might add!) the festival awaits you on the farm nearby.

With food stalls, souvenir shops and games and activities for the kids, you could easily spend the entire day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival.

She had a ball playing with all the other kids and we had so much fun watching her enjoy herself.

We left the Oregon tulip fields with a whole lot more mud than we came in with, but to me, that is all part of the fun!

The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is held yearly from late March to early May. We visited right in the middle of April to be sure to see it in the height of its splendor. The fields are only a 45-minute drive from Portland. And if you’re lucky enough to live within driving distance, you can purchase a bouquet of colorful tulips to take home with you too!

Stay tuned for my full recap or our trip to Mt. Hood Territory coming at ya later this week! And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
