A visit to the New Orleans’ French Quarter is like stepping into another time and place for a little while. The sights, sounds, and even smells (I’m talking sugary beignets, y’all!) are so far removed from my day-to-day life that traveling to the Big Easy is truly an escape from my reality. Oh and I just love it so! At five-ish hours away from my front door, I’ve made it my mission to visit beautiful New Orleans as much as I possibly can too.
I’m taking y’all along for a leisurely morning stroll through the heart of the French Quarter and sharing the details on an outfit I always seem to wear when traveling, in today’s post. Head on down for more below!
New Orleans Street Artists:
An Early Morning Stroll through The Quarter Shows a Different Side of Nola
As an early riser, I have come to find that cities are seen the best first thing in the morning. New Orlean’s French Quarter, definitely so! While Bourbon Street’s party-goers were sleeping off their hurricanes, my mom, Annie & I slipped out the door of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel to explore the empty streets.
We stumbled upon artists chit-chatting with their peers, others painting new pieces, and locals grabbing coffee and walking their precious pups around Jackson Square. The air was unusually quieter for the French Quarter which made the morning’s stroll all the more magical.
As soon as 9:00 am rolled around, the bells of St. Louis Cathedral rang to mark the hour and the start of Sunday mass. Listening to the bells chime overheard while watching fortune tellers set up their tables for the day was a lovely juxtaposition that you can only find in the New Orleans French Quarter.
Shop my Nola Travel Look:
My travel look for the day was a printed pleated midi skirt, a chambray button-down and brown leather boots (now on sale) for warmth and comfort. I love the way midi skirts look with taller boots. I feel like this is a type of outfit that just comes off as effortlessly chic while also being comfortable too. I can’t resist getting more dressed up than usual when I travel. For one, I love snapping photos and another reason is that it just feels good to feel good in what you wear while exploring someplace as beautiful as New Orleans.
Oh and I simply have to mention this Patricia Nash crossbody of mine real quick. This slouchy bag has been great for all of our adventures lately because it holds SO much, including a camera, a few diapers, wipes, snacks, and everyday necessities too.
I honestly think I could have stood on this street corner with a coffee in hand admiring the New Orleans street artists’ in action all day long.
And I totally regret not scooping up a piece from one of the painters during our visit. Since we are in the process of trying to make a move to a new home this year, I’m waiting until I figure out how much wall space I have to play with before I do so. But once that’s all said and done, I seriously can not wait to hunt down colorful works of art while we travel. It’s so special to collect pieces that tell a story and remind you of a wonderful experience too.
Where to find New Orleans street artists in the French Quarter:
So until it’s time to pick out my own works of art to bring home from the streets of New Orleans, I’ll just have my fun walking by and admiring them here. By the way, I snapped these photos right behind St. Louis Cathedral on the corner of Royal Street and Orleans Street. Definitely check out this little spot if you find yourself in the French Quarter anytime soon!
