“Well, it’s one for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Now go, cat, go!
But don’t you
Step on my blue suede shoes
Well you can do anything
But stay off of my blue suede shoes!” – Elvis Presley

It’s safe to stay I’m finding it pretty simple to step into (my blue suede shoes and) life back in Memphis again. The transition these past few days have felt a bit like culture shock. Houston and Memphis are vastly different from one another, but not in a bad way at all. They both have such wonderful quirks! They’re just very different. That aside, it’s also felt so comfortable being back here – almost as if I never even left my hometown over a decade ago.

I’m certainly having fun with the idea of discovering Memphis as an adult. There is so much to see and do in this Southern city that I never had time to fit in during my short family visits throughout the years. And if I did visit any of these hotspots as a child, the memories are a bit blurry thanks to that lovely concussion I got snowboarding in 2009! So in a way, it really does feel like I get to be a full-on tourist (even though I’m now considered a local once again) in Memphis, Tennessee.

No tourist’s escapades to the Home of the Blues & Birth Place of Rock ‘N’ Roll should start anywhere other than Sun Studio. Naturally, I had to slip on my new M. Gemi blue suede shoes along for the journey! I’m sharing more on our Sun Studio visit, my outfit details and a special discount code for my stylish new loafers below!

The legendary Sun Studio in Memphis is the official birthplace of the rock ‘n’ roll music genre. Music icons such as B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded their biggest early hits here in the 1950s. This quaint little music studio is steps away from Downtown Memphis and a visit here is like walking right back into time.

Of course, I had to dress for the occasion …

In a nod to Elvis’ famous hit song, I styled a pair of blue suede shoes with a floral midi skirt from Zara and white eyelet bell sleeve blouse. I’ll never get over the headband trend and this velvet headband (an Etsy find) tied the whole look together.

Spilling the Details on my Blue Suede Shoes

I was thrilled when M. Gemi reached out about their latest shoe launch: The Sacca Donna Loafers. They not only come in both light and dark blue – but also two shades of brown, gray and black. I’ve been a fan of M. Gemi’s Italian shoes for ages now as the craftsmanship just can’t be beaten. They are handmade in Toscano, Italy with luxuriously soft suede. Just holding them you can feel how fine they are, a pair of shoes that will last a lifetime!

I’m so excited to share the special discount code ALICE60 today to shop any pair of shoes from M. Gemi for $60 off!

Plan Your Visit to Sun Studio

A guided tour of this historic spot lasts 45 minutes and will entertain families of all ages with music memorabilia and the chance to stand in the very spot where Elvis Presley crooned “That’s All Right” at just 18-years-old. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children.

Tip: my advice would be to get to Sun Studio as early as you can during the busy summer season or on the weekends. You can’t reserve a spot in advance and this popular music museum‘s daily tours fill up fast!

As always, thanks for following along! I’m so excited to share snippets of my “new” hometown with you all along with my favorite fashions and everyday adventures.  Thanks for stopping by today!
