Cowboy boots, as we call them, first hit the scene in 1870 in Kansas. The style was originally inspired by the Wellington Boot, made famous by the British Duke of Wellington. Over time, different heel heights, shafts and toe designs were toyed with until the 1920s and 30s when Western films immortalized the style of cowboy boots we know and love today. Flashforward to 2019. Western wear has evolved into a trend so mainstream you don’t have to have any involvement with cows, horses or the outdoors, for that matter, to get away with rocking a pair of modern cowboy boots.
These days, you’ll find cowboy boots in all sorts of styles, colors, shapes, and silhouettes – some so fancy you’d be abhorred at the thought of getting a speck of dirt on (I myself have a pair I feel this way about!) But I will say, my favorite pair of western-style boots are ones that are comfortable, chic, and will take me from a party in the city to a day traipsing through the fields at my uncle’s farm. These black Western-inspired WYND booties I’m styling today from Born are just that!
Join me in today’s post where I’m sharing a fresh fall take on how to style Western-inspired booties!
A Bit About These Modern Cowboy Boots
I absolutely adore the juxtaposition of a rugged boot with a flowy feminine dress. It is perhaps my favorite style combination of all! Fall weather brings about even more opportunities to break out my boots and I expect to be slipping into these black beauties from Born quite often in the coming months! I honestly can not get over how incredibly comfortable they are too.
Born’s boots stand out from the crowd with their cushioned microfiber footbeds, removable insoles, and rubber outsoles. I could spend an entire day dashing about in these booties without any feeling of discomfort. I also love that the WYND bootie has a rubber sole. Many of the cowboy boots in my collection come with wooden or leather soles which can make for a pretty slick surface on a rainy day. This silhouette comes in a number of colors and is now available at Dillard’s. I know that wherever my day takes me, the Western-inspired booties from Born will be up for the challenge!
A Blue Dress to Take You from Summer to Fall
I opted to style these black booties with a simple chambray dress that makes a statement with its flowy feminine silhouette. Chambray is such a great fabric to take you from season to season. It is a simple fabric that can be mixed and matched and layered to your liking. If the weather were a bit cooler, I’d opt to throw a black leather jacket on to complete this look. But for now, this fabulous frock fits the season perfectly.
This particular dress was a Rent the Runway find but as per usual, I’ve fallen in love and I find myself torn with the idea of sending it back. Who else often gets this way with Rent the Runway too!?
Stepping Out on the Town in Style
Now that I’m living closer to family, I’m finding that more and more outings are popping up on my calendar. I usually feel it is harder to get dressed for a night out this time of year. Labor Day has passed yet the temperatures are still evoking those dog days of summer – which is not very conducive to fall fashion! But this is one look that I plan to pull out for a big event next week. It’s a light and airy outfit and the addition these Born booties make give it a perfect fall feel.

Big thank you to Born for sponsoring this blog post and sending me these beautiful booties to review. At first step, I fell in love with how comfortable they were! As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you to you all for supporting the brands that make Lone Star Looking Glass possible.
