A Pretty (Warm) Plaid Shirt Dress

These past few months in Tennessee have had me readjusting my wardrobe in so many different ways. After all, I haven’t lived through a true fall and winter in almost a decade. Back in Houston, I loved being able to wear light and airy dresses all fall and winter long. Sometimes, the only thing I would need was a light jacket over my dress and I was ready for the Texas winter day.

This go-round, I’m gravitating towards dresses made of thicker materials to keep me cozy. I’ve stumbled upon wool skirts, velvet tops and corduroy button-downs that are not only oh-so-stylish but also serve a purpose in my wardrobe. This orange plaid dress, in particular, does just that and more. This Rita Row plaid shirt dress is a recent Nuuly find – and I plan on dishing ALL about my newfound love for Nuuly very very soon – but in the meantime, I’m styling this darling dress & chatting a bit about this & that below. My Favorite Plaid Shirt Dress

When this plaid shirt dress arrived in the mail, I pulled it out of the box and was a little bit overwhelmed by all of the overflowing orange and brown fabric in my hands. This Rita Row is larger than life and took a smidge more confidence than usual to style for a night out on the town. In an effort to keep it from looking too frumpy, I dressed this frock up with heeled booties to balance out the billowy skirt and wore my hair loose and flowy – (per usual). Festive earrings added for a more feminine look to this bold flannel shirt dress.

The other night, I met three of my dear college friends out for dinner and drinks and wore this darling dress for the occasion. It was such a chilly night and I remember being so warm and cozy while sipping on my glass of wine wearing this soft flannel dress. Hey, if an outfit can be this comfortable and also feel fabulously stylish at the same time – sign me right up!!

Ramblings on Life, The Holidays, & What I’m Loving Lately

In other news, things have been a bit busier than usual behind the scenes of the blog these past few days. I have several big deadlines I need to hit with the blog this week & along with getting our house all ready for Christmas – life has just felt crazy lately! Speaking of which, we bought our tree this weekend and it just happened to come from a Christmas Tree Lot run by my former girl scout troop! It was so special seeing my old Troop Leader again. Got me all excited for Annie to one day become a girl scout too.

Thanksgiving and the weekend to follow was an absolutely wonderful whirlwind. Patrick’s entire family came into town and stayed with us. Then my whole side joined us for the Turkey Day Feast! I still can’t believe we hosted 19 people in our new home! It was such a feat and went off without a hitch. I’m now totally inspired to throw as many dinner parties as I can going forward. Patrick, just get ready ha! I’m also thinking I may need to do a blog post on what I learned after hosting such a big event in my home to share in time for the holidays. Are you hosting anyone in your home this Christmas?

Oh, this is huge, ya’ll. I recently discovered the most amazing beauty product I think I’ve ever tried. (I also consider myself somewhat of a novice beauty “guru” too. Which is why this is such a big deal to me!) It is called the FACE HALO and it is a reusable makeup remover pad! It’s greatĀ for the environment too – my days of makeup remover wipes are officially over. The FACE HALO cleanses your skin by using only tiny microfiber bristles and water. The first time I tried it I just did not understand how it could work so well. Especially with the lack of lotions or soap. I was like “Patrick, what is this sorcery!?” Anyway, the Face Halo really is just so amazing I could rave all day long. Linked it below for y’all along with some other recent beauty faves.

That’s all for today, y’all! Thanks for stopping by, checking out my latest fashion finds & if you’ve made it this far, listening to my ramblings. You guys are wonderful!

xo, alice
