I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am having so much more fun with my “maternity style game” this pregnancy than I ever did with my first. I think that’s because this go-round, I knew what my specific needs would be, I knew what to shop for and I already knew that there was a major difference between squeezing into non-maternity loungewear pieces in a size up versus investing in comfortable maternity pajamas and clothing designed for a mama’s growing and changing body during this time.
This pregnancy, I was introduced to Kindred Bravely by a friend and I am so thankful for her recommendation! Kindred Bravely is a maternity essentials brand devoted to making the lives easier for both expecting moms-to-be and nursing mamas. Their pieces are not only stylish but also functional for pre and postpartum living. I picked up a few essentials from their latest collection and am chatting all about the fit, style, and functionality below! I’ve also got the scoop on a discount code for y’alll too! Head on down for more …
Maternity Pajamas and Loungewear
The Comforts of Home
It’s safe to say that almost all of us have been spending the last few months at home. Loungewear has become a bigger part of my life than it ever has – for both myself and my daughter, Annie. My body has grown & changed in so many different ways since quarantine began and I’m so thankful I started dressing appropriately for it with maternity-specific pieces early on in my pregnancy. Feeling great and having that little boost of confidence (even in my pajamas) has made getting up and starting our daily routine (which seems to hardly ever change these days!) all the more enjoyable.
Plus, the more comfortable my maternity pajamas and clothing is … the more I’m able to keep up with this wild child three-year-old of mine!
The Healing Power of Pajamas
I’ve always been an oversized t-shirt and leggings type of girl when it comes to pajamas. I think that’s mostly because I never really found a pair that I thought fit comfortably enough to commit to sleeping through the night in – crazy I know. It’s no surprise that I’ve come to the realization that a big watermelon-sized pregnant belly in an oversized college t-shirt just doesn’t feel good. Especially when you can see said belly peeking out of the bottom of the shirt!
I was so excited to slip into the June Maternity and Nursing Pajamas Set by Kindred Bravely for the first time. I had never tried on maternity specific PJ’s before this point and even though I was playing dress up in this mid-day I didn’t want to take them off as soon I tried them on! As you can see from the snap below, this set is designed for the spring and summer months with its shorter length leggings and sleeveless top. The top actually has a discreet nursing panel which is going to be so helpful for those late-night nursing sessions in the months to come.
I’m also so excited to share the code ALICE20 to shop this PJ Set and anything else from Kindred Bravely right now too!
A Robe to Cozy Up (& Carry Things) In
I remember those first few weeks with Annie at home … I didn’t know what was up or down let alone what time of the day it was. I LIVED in my pajamas for a while there and am planning on doing the same upon Baby Boy’s arrival. I think it will make such a difference to my mental health to feel just a bit more comfortable and stylish in these sleepless newborn days ahead too.
The Emmaline Nursing and Maternity Robe, also by Kindred Bravely, is as soft and stylish as can be and I can’t wait to wear it while rocking my baby boy in 65-ish days!!! This robe is also designed for both pre and postpartum needs. It has two different places to tie the sash giving mamas an option for either an empire waist or traditional tie. There are deep pockets for nursing essentials (or to you know … hold your phone) and the stylish silhouette is flattering no matter how dark your undereye circles start to get.
Bras Designed by Moms for Moms
If you’ve been pregnant before, then you know that as soon as the pregnancy test shows a positive, it’s like it is already time to buy a new bra! For both of my pregnancies, I’ve preferred underwire-free bras with enough stretch and support to keep me comfortable all day long. I said, “Bye-bye!” to underwire and padding and started wearing these supportive nursing-friendly style bras as early as my first trimester this go-round.
Kindred Bravely has so many different styles of bras that work for both pre and postpartum needs. The three I picked up are the Organic Cotton Nursing & Sleep Bra in pink, the Simply Sublime Nursing Bra in beige (an absolute essential!!) and the Sublime Adjustable Crossover Bra in black. The Crossover Bra is a great bra with lightweight support and perfect for a day spent lounging, running errands, or even sleeping (if you are able to sleep with a newborn at home – that is!)
Staying Active in Style
There comes a point in everyone’s day where we feel we must change out of our PJ’s into regular clothes. Not my favorite part of the day, that’s for sure! Thankfully, Kindred Bravely has some adorable and oh-so-comfortable activewear pieces that make the transition easier. We’ve been going on SO SO many walks this spring and summer and the Louisa Maternity & Post Partum Support Leggings have been so good to me on some of those early morning adventures. The ultra-high rise waist supports my bump and will also hug and support my soon to be back again curves once baby is here. One thing I really love is the thick premium fabric to these leggings. They hold their shape so well and feel almost like a second skin in the best way possible.
I’ve been pairing my leggings with this Bamboo Nursing and Maternity Tank Top. It’s hidden, but there is a flap cut across the side that will be great to pull away when it’s time to nurse my little baby in just a few months. For all of the extra fabric to keep things discreet, it’s surprisingly such a lightweight piece and perfect for staying stylish and cool in the summer months.
