Happy Tuesday!
I’m jumping off of my usual fashion train today and talking about something totally different, but also extremely important: skincare.
Let me start off by explaining that it wasn’t until … halfway through college that I started taking skincare seriously. (Embarrassing to admit, but hey, I gotta thank my mom & dad for those good genes! … However, good genes reallllly only last until your like 23 and then everyone is on the same playing field. Am I right?)
I’ll never forget when my junior year roomie was washing her face (she did so every single night, as she should) and was like, “Alice, why aren’t you washing your face too!?”
“Um,” I responded with “I do that when I shower, isn’t that enough?”
Her response of “Are you serious, that’s it!? You’re going to get wrinkles!” was enough for me to start exploring skin care regimes ASAP.
I remember my roommate using Clinique, so I thought I should try it too.
Here I am, several years after graduation, still using Clinique to keep my skin nice & clean!
I’ve always been a fan of Clinique’s liquid facial soap. But I recently tried it for the first time in it’s foaming sonic facial soap form – with a handy little electronic cleansing brush to boot!
You guys, the Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush not only does some heavy duty cleansing on your face, but it’s also so much fun just to use!
It’s fun like an electric toothbrush, but it’s for your face! It’s going to remove makeup, dirt & oil that your hands or a regular washcloth might miss.
Step 2: Exfoliate
After splashing off my cleanser, I use Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion with a cotton ball or cotton swab to sweep away any excess oil or flakes.
This leaves my skin fresh & ready for the moisturizer to do its job.
Which brings me to …
Okay, maybe I started washing my face regularly around 23, but it wasn’t until age 25ish that I realized OMG I have to start moisturizing every single day (multiple times a day.)
You go through some crazy stuff in your 20s! And the changes in your skin, unfortunately, is one of them. Which is why it’s important to take action ASAP.
Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion is one of their best selling products. (And rightfully so!) It helps to strengthen my skin’s moisture barrier by 54% with all-day hydration that helps skin to look younger, longer.
While you’re probably thinking I’m about to go into Step 4, the truth is there is no Step 4.
Most of the time I’ll use this after work before I reapply my makeup before a night out. This lightweight makeup remover quickly dissolves my stubborn eye & face make up. Plus it feels super silky in my hands, which is always fun.
There you have it! My 3-Step Skincare regime and what I like to use on the fly!
What’s your go-to skincare routine?
