Snapshots from Thanksgiving in Tennessee

This year we headed up to Tennessee to celebrate Thanksgiving with family in both Nashville & Memphis. I can’t even begin to tell y’all how good it felt to go “home” to Tennessee in the fall! The weather was perfectly crisp & I ooohed and aaahed over every single fall leaf that hung on the trees. This is something I totally took for granted growing up and didn’t realize how special a Tennessee fall was until I moved away. Not only did we get to experience some amazing weather, but we also caught up with old friends and family that we hadn’t seen in ages. My heart was SO SO full after two weeks in Tennessee! This post is really just bits & bobs, along with a few snaps (& outfits of course) from our recent trip!

Thanksgiving Baby Girl Outfit Ideas - Target Gray Toddler Sweater Dress

I had such fun dressing Annie (& myself) up for her very first Thanksgiving. I found her little dress at Target. I’d definitely size up for her if I bought it again but it fit perfectly for the holiday. Here’s to hoping she can get a few more wears out of it soon!

I wore these cozy red corduroy pants (also seen here) and a reversible plaid scarf that I snagged last season. I recently found it on sale though for less than $17 which is totally what I wish I paid for it last year ha! Anywho, I love this snap that we took outside of Patrick’s aunt’s home after our big Thanksgiving meal. My sister-in-law wanted Annie to experience a “real” fall, thus the leaves magically falling from the “trees” above! 😉

The whole gang!! It is such a blessing to be able to share the holiday season with this fabulous crew!

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we all headed to Arrington Vineyards outside of Franklin. If I had to pick one of my favorite places in the entire world to spend a Saturday, this would totally be it!

My little fam! <3

Annie tried lots & lots of new foods over the Thanksgiving holiday. Pimento cheese turns out is one of her favorites. (Just like her mama!)

I’ve worn this cozy sweater a bunch this fall. It’s perfect for Texas because it has a lot of holes in it ha! It’s also great to layer with a flannel for the cooler days. It just sold out but I found a similar style: here.

After spending a week with Patrick’s side of the family, my parents then drove up to Nashville to meet us. We spent an afternoon exploring historic Franklin and then had a big family get-together with my relatives in Nashville.

Breaking out all of my favorite sweaters while in Tennessee, naturally! This one comes in SO many colors and if money fell from trees, I’d have one in each.

Another day in Nashville was spent exploring 12 South, home to the cutest little shops you ever did see (cough, cough Draper James) as well as a delicious taco spot, Bar Taco, that satisfied my always present Tex-Mex craving.

I wore these fun(ky) overalls I just got from Free People. I mentioned here that they were a bit of a fashion risk for me but I absolutely love them. People actually commented on them all day long which made me feel much better about my decision to get them! When paired with a frilly top like this embroidered one, the overalls seem a bit more feminine.

The second part of our trip to Tennessee was spent in Memphis. Patrick had to head back to Texas (due to lack of vacation days #tragic!) so Annie & I headed down to The Bluff City to see family & friends.

We also got to check out the pyramid turned Bass Pro Shop finally! What was once home to a concert venue & basketball arena is now a swanky/rustic hotel, shopping center & restaurant. We had dinner at the top of the pyramid and were treated to the most beautiful views of The Mississippi River below.

I wore this sweater again & Annie matched me in her cable-knit from Baby Gap. We also donned our matching pom pom beanies that believe it or not are less than $10 for the set on Amazon! (They come in a bunch of different colors too!)

Another one of my favorite holiday traditions is visiting The Peabody Hotel lobby in Downtown, Memphis. My family and I had drinks amongst the ducks in the hotel lobby before a BBQ dinner at the famous Rendezvous. It was a perfectly “Memphis” night out!

My older brother, Frank, loving on Annie at dinner!

Boden blue fur winter coat

Tennessee treated me to wonderful reunions with so many friends & family. It’s chilly weather also gave me the opportunity to break out so many of my favorite fall/winter pieces that I never ever get to wear in Texas! This gorgeous blue coat of mine is from Boden and I just know I’ll wear it year after year after year. I’m that in love! It comes in coral, gray & a pretty plaid print too.(It’s also now half off!) I know it’s crazy to have a coat like this when living in Houston, but you never know when an opportunity to visit someplace cooler might pop up!

Anywho, thanks for following along with these snaps & chit-chats about my recent visit to TN! Not going to lie, a big big part of me is itching to get back there permanently. I do love living in Texas, but now that I have a little one, my heart is wanting to be closer to home & family. A change of that magnitude isn’t in the cards at the moment, so for now, I’ll continue to soak up everything there is to love about living in Texas! I may just make those visits to Tennessee more frequently though!
