Who else here is obsessed with Draper James?! I remember when the line just launched (only a few years ago) and I just ooohed and aaahhed over those magnolia prints. The magnolia flower will always hold a special spot in my heart because it’s the state flower of Mississippi. What does a Tennessee girl who has a Texas blog have anything to do with Mississippi? I’ll tell y’all why below!

First thing’s first. This belted chambray shirt dress. I am a denim dress aficionado (if you don’t believe me, see here) and I can attest that this is one of the SOFTEST denim/chambray dresses … of all time. It has a bit of stretch, it breathes in the Southern heat and it’s lined with a lovely magnolia print too. (Draper James trademark.) I am typically a size 4 but I sized up to a 6 for length – DJ’s dresses tend to come in at a shorter hem than I typically wear. I also sized up because I wanted it to be looser and more laid back for my mom-on-the-go lifestyle.

Now back to the magnolia flower. This springtime bloom decorated each tier of our wedding cake back in 2013. Patrick and I got married on my uncle’s farm in Mississippi, just 45 minutes south of my hometown of Memphis. A nod to the state we tied the knot in, I chose the magnolia flower to be a central part of our wedding ceremony. So naturally, I’m just swooning over every single thing Reese Witherspoon decides to put that flower on in her line!
