A Blue Dress in a Yellow Coffee Shop

Happy Tuesday! Chatting about coffee shops, a new-ish direction I’m taking this blog in & sundresses today! More on that, this look and this oh-so-instagrammable coffee shop below!

One of my big goals this fall is to spend more time in my favorite coffee shops. I tend to crank out work far faster plus I always feel more creative in an inspiring place with a delicious cup of coffee at my side. Annie starts school up again in early September and I’ve made a pact with a few of my blogger friends to meet up to work in local coffee shops at least once a week!

Houston The Yellow Cup Coffee Shop Review

Situated on bustling Washington Avenue, The Yellow Cup is at a convenient location in the heart of the city, with ample parking too. It was a hot summer’s day so I picked a chilly cup of cold brew. Their assortment of hot tea had me quite tempted though!

Details on this darling dress. This is another recent Chicwish find. I can’t get enough of their sundresses, y’all! This blue one has a mixture of fringe, crochet, embroidery & eyelet all in one. Seems like a lot but it all balances each other out fabulously. (PS I sized up in a medium for a looser more relaxed fit.)

Shop the Look:

You might have noticed from the way my photos are looking lately, but I recently splurged on a brand new camera! I’m so so excited about this new addition to my family. (It certainly feels like my second child when I’m carrying … it’s that heavy lol!)

When I created this blog almost six years ago, I had such fun sharing outfits along with snippets of stories from my life with y’all. I would tote my point & shoot camera with me everywhere back in the day. This was way before I even considered working with a photographer. Once I started taking my outfit photos with a professional, it got so easy to roll out styled content for the blog that I kind of fell into a pattern of outfits only with a few lifestyle posts here and there. Which was never my intention when I created Lone Star Looking Glass.

I missed sharing pictures and stories of randomosities from my everyday life with y’all. And getting so used to the professional photography, I wasn’t about to pull out that point & shoot again. So now here I am, with a camera I’m obsessed with and I’m having the best time learning how to use it!

Expect to see outfit posts coming at ya a little bit differently from here on out. And even more at home/lifestyle posts. There was a time when I looooved sharing my favorite recipes on here & life just got too busy to do it after a while. (I also couldn’t figure out how to make the food look remotely delicious when shot with my point & shoot camera at home.) So now that I can snap a photo on my own and make my lasagna look just as good online as it tastes in real life … then I’m that much more excited to share it!

Maybe this new content will inspire you to visit someplace new or try something different in the process too!? Let me know what you think!

And as always, thanks for stopping by the blog!

 xo, alice
