It’s so hard to believe I woke up just two days ago to the ocean greeting us outside our living room window. We spent the most wonderful week at the beach with Patrick’s entire side of the family and it was a much-needed break from reality!

In light of everything going on right now, our getaway definitely felt different from years past – we stayed put on our spot in the sand & never left our beach condo’s property the entire stay. We nixed restaurants and shopping outings in favor of more family togetherness & home-cooked meals. It was such a treat to be able to get away safely & have a little fun in the midst of everything right now. Have you planned a social-distanced trip this summer, yet?!

Whether you’re headed to the beach or the pool, and whether you’re expecting or not, I’m sharing a bit of beachy outfit inspiration to bring some sunshine to your day. Head on down below for more of this boho beachy maternity style look with Show Me Your Mumu and my tips on staying chic when expecting at the beach!

My 30-week bump is out on full display these days! Makes sense when the little when is already the size of a cabbage, 15 inches long & weighing in at 3 pounds.

My suitcase was filled to the brim with flowy sundresses, stylish coverups, and beachy accessories galore for our recent trip to Florida. Sure, I wasn’t even planning on leaving the tiny radius surrounding our condo … but this was the only vacation on our summer calendar for all of 2020! Fashionista that I am, I certainly packed accordingly.

My Thoughts on Summer Maternity Style

I have to say, I’ve had so much more fun with my maternity style game this pregnancy than I ever did with Annie’s. Fashions have changed and I’m pregnant in an entirely different season too. Flowy empire or even no-waist dresses seem to be on display at all of my favorite shops these days. There are also oodles of gorgeous maternity bathing suits available for expecting moms all across the web. I’ve scooped up a few favorites (here, here & here) and paired them with loose-fitting coverups and sundresses for both beach getaways and days spent by the pool. And to be honest, I never thought I would feel so confident in my body 7-months pregnant out and about in with a beach ball-sized belly in a bathing suit too. But we’ll have to see what I have to say about that again the closer I get to 40-weeks, ha!

This stylish embroidered fringe coverup I’m donning in today’s post is by the brand Show Me Your Mumu. Show Me Your Mumu is a bohemian women’s clothing line boasts trendy summer staples, pieces for the bridesmaids & bride to be and even offers a curated collection of styles that work perfectly for expecting mamas too. Their pieces aren’t what you see everywhere else and always have a bit of something extra that makes them stand out from the crowd. The breezy silhouette and playful fringe details of this (now on sale) Maleia Tunic are just darling! It made for the perfect “maternity” beach coverup and I could also see myself either belting it or wearing it as a mini dress next summer too.

Tips on Staying Stylish (While Expecting) at the Beach

Sunscreen. Who wants to deal with a sunburn on top of that already mile-long list of pregnancy symptoms?! I love Tarte’s Tartreguard in SPF 30 for the face and either Sunbum lotion or Coppertone Cooling Spray both in SPF 50 for my body.

Maternity Swimsuits. I’ve seen other bloggers in their third trimesters boast non-maternity suits that can still fit you 30-40 weeks in and I just want to be like … “girl, please no!” That’s like trying to wear regular jeans with a rubber band when maternity jeans exist. I mean, maybe they’ve stumbled upon styles with stretchier fabric? In my opinion, wearing a suit that was made and cut specifically for your growing bump makes such a big difference. Maternity suits are much more flattering to the figure but also ridiculously more comfortable too.

Pinkblush has several gorgeous styles under $50 and I’ve also loved what I’ve found from ASOS. But when it comes to the best quality, this suit from A Pea in the Pod is definitely my favorite as this striped suit has the most support & the material just seems to “hold everything together” if you know what I mean.

Hydration. You can’t have that mom-to-be glow without adequate water intake! Hot summer days spent outdoors can dehydrate you faster than you think. I experienced that on our first day on the sand. I thought I was drinking enough water but it definitely wasn’t enough to combat the salt & sun and those 7-hours we spent on the sand. (One too may Braxton Hicks made me aware of the situation quickly.) Thankfully I got a handle on it and was able to have a comfortable & more hydrated rest of the trip.

A great water bottle is key!! My sister-in-law had one that had little reminders on the sides to continue to drink more throughout the day. She also recommended Liquid IV for me to help boost hydration in a pinch.

Cute Coverups. I packed a few stylish coverups that make a statement along with a few cozy cotton ones strictly for comfort and rotated them throughout the week. Many of my favorite styles from previous summers worked with my growing bump but the few I ordered for this summer I made sure to size up for an easy-breezy feel. Rounding up a mix of both maternity and non-maternity coverups I’m loving below!
