Cinco de Mayo Inspired Wishlist

Happy Cinco de Mayo!! I feel like Cinco de Mayo has become one of those holidays, like St. Patrick’s Day, that we Americans have taken over because it’s just a good excuse to get dressed up, celebrate something, and drink.
Let’s be honest, this is all mostly true.

In case you weren’t aware of the true meaning of the holiday, I’m going to let you in on the real reason for the celebration on this fifth of May.  Cinco de Mayo is a day to commemorate the Mexican victory over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Wooo! Now let’s have a margarita!

While Cinco de Mayo isn’t necessarily Mexican Independence Day, it is often treated as such. The Mexican culture has really influenced our lifestyle in the United States (hello Mexican food & margaritas once again!) so I think we have kind of adopted this holiday to pay homage to the Mexican culture in our own special way.

So today, in my own special way, I’m paying tribute to the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla with a roundup of my favorite Mexican inspired pieces for your Cinco de Mayo celebration.

I’ve always always always been a sucker for anything embroidered.  This is probably due to the fact that my mother dressed me in those Mexican wedding dresses as a little kid.
They actually looked more like moo moos than wedding dresses, come to think of it.

Anywho, I’m going to be honest, I’m kind of obsessed with everything in this Cinco de Mayo inspired roundup.  This embroidered peasant Anthro top has got to get in my closet immediately.  This “Marfa” ice bucket is a bar necessity, am I right? And I would wear this Mi Golondrina dress every single day of the rest of my life, paired with teal sandals and a Mar Y Sol clutch of course.  Also, how cute are the new Kendra Scott travel pieces? This print is all sorts of amazing!

Do you guys have any fun plans to celebrate Cinco do Mayo tonight? We’re celebrating by going to our second week of puppy school with Marigold. Should be a blast. I’m pretty sure we are learning “Stay” this week. Margaritas afterwards for sure.
