Never did I ever think I would be sharing organizational tips with you guys! I feel like my life has always been a bit of organized chaos. I seem to always know where everything is … but things aren’t always in their “meant-to-be” places. Patrick, on the other hand, is much more organized than I am and definitely keeps me in line. When he and I were chatting about stepping up our kitchen game with The Container Store, you would have thought he was a kid on Christmas morning – he was so excited about the idea!
Once we did our shopping and brought everything home – putting things in their places … I realized was fun! And when things live where they are supposed to, it just makes life that much simpler. I’m sharing the tips & tricks I learned along the way when we organized our kitchen with The Container Store along with a few of my favorite products that I think every kitchen needs. And with The Container Store’s Kitchen & Pantry Sale happening NOW (so many goodies at 25% off)… there’s no reason not to spring clean your kitchen! More below …
Fix the Fridge.
You guys, I didn’t even know that fridge organization was a thing until I shopped The Container Store! I mean, the fridge already came with compartments, why would I need anything more? Um … nope!
There is SO much more. You access the fridge more than any space in your kitchen, so why not have it the most organized? And keeping everything in their places helps you not to overlook items you already have when whipping up recipes or making grocery lists.
We started grouping similar types of foods together and storing fruits & vegetables in stackable containers as opposed to having all of the oddly shaped containers the food comes in scattered about. But my favorite addition to the fridge has got to be the Fridge Binz Soda Can Organizer! Like any millennial, we basically live off La Croix. Not only do our colorful cans look that much fancier now, they also save space & are easier to access too.
Show Off the Goods.
I love the trend of not hiding every single little thing behind cabinet doors. Sometimes those pretty plates, bowls, & serving pieces just need to be on display all year-round! We have a baker’s rack that holds our cookbooks, favorite serving pieces, napkins, tablecloths & more.
While some of those pieces look great on their own, stacks of napkins & tablecloths not so much. I love that these Cyprus Storage Bins look chic and always hide the clutter. One thing we don’t want to hide though is how many cookies we have left in our cookie jar! These glass jars are great for storing sugar, flour, pasta & more. But I love how they look filled with cookies the most, naturally!
Put Your Pantry in Place.
Our kitchen doesn’t have one of those big swoon-worthy walk-in pantries that you see all over Pinterest. We make do with a couple of spare cabinets to store all of our stuff. With such small spaces that are kind of hard to reach, this was a pretty big task to figure out how to organize. So we kind of went with a mixture of all sorts of things! 😉
We store our snacks in stackable silver bins. Instead of standing on a stool to dig in the depths of the cabinet, we are able to pull out the entire bin to easily grab what we need. Annie has her own cabinet too! I love that these stacking bins store her snacks and this 2-tier divided organizer make her sippy cups & bowls much easier to access too.
When it came to our spice cabinets, we knew this three-tier shelf would work best to show off our collection. It makes finding things in a pinch so much simpler! We also grabbed Lazy Susan’s for both our hot sauces (we have a lot of those!!) & various oils & vinegar. It’s honestly unbelievable how much easier it is to find things quickly in our pantry now.
Feature Your Fruit.
It might just be me, but if our fruit is out on display, I’m 10x more likely to eat it than if it was tucked away. This chic wire marche basket lives on our island and stores whatever’s in season.
Make Organizing Fun.
With chalk! The Container Store offers countless products that either come with chalkboard labels or are ready for labels to be attached. I like to keep my coffee & sugar on the counter to make mornings simpler. (And with our little one’s 5:30 am wake-up calls these past few days … I’m needing ALL of the coffee!) These jars are not just adorable but they also seal shut to keep your goods fresh for longer.
Another way I’m having fun organizing is with our dry erase calendar and square kitchen chalkboard. Writing family plans out in a place where everyone can see it keeps us all on our toes. (And now there is no chance that birthdays or anniversaries can be missed!) The chalkboard is mainly used to help me meal plan, but if we have a big trip coming up I like to make a giant countdown to get us excited. It’s also a fun spot to write out a meaningful quote or to include something seasonal.
Now thanks to The Container Store I open my fridge every day and feel like I’m in someone else’s house – because I still can’t believe that the inside of our fridge looks so fabulous!! What are your favorite tips to keep your kitchen more organized? I’ve got to admit, I had so much fun with this project that I’m ready to tackle on another space in our home!
And don’t forget about The Container Store’s big kitchen + pantry sale with hundreds of items 25% of until April 1st!
