This Hunter Fan Company Memphis TN post is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hunter Fan Company. All opinions are 100% mine.
Today, I’m taking y’all on a tour of my favorite “room” in our Tennessee home: our Southern front porch. From sipping our morning coffee on the swing with a sweeping view of our street to watching the evening walkers stroll by at sunset, we manage to spend as much time as possible in this space throughout our day. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a traditional Southern-style front porch, hanging baskets filled with ferns white columns and all! Some mornings, I’ll come out here and think, “pinch me” I can’t believe this is ours to enjoy!
After living in our new home for 7 months, I feel I’ve finally spruced up this space to completion and am thrilled to share a peek into our porch today. Head on down for all the details on how we styled the space and a look into how we utilize it for our family – especially now that we are hunkered down and in quarantine mode! More below …
How We Decorated our Southern Front Porch with Hunter Fan Company in Memphis TN
First things first, I had to get all dressed up to take y’all on this tour! After all, who else is there to get dressed up for these days? I’m sure Annie and Patrick enjoy my outfits of the day so very much, but let’s be honest … it’s just not the same, ha! (Chatting more about this gorgeous green dress in the bottom of the post.)
A Casual and Comfortable Seating Area
Our front porch is the first thing you notice about our home. It makes a statement from the street and welcomes guests before they walk through our front door. It boasts a casual seating area, aka our outdoor living room, and also a spacious section home to our beloved porch swing.
Before social distancing, we hosted family and guests frequently. I love that this rattan patio set is comfortable, stylish but also lightweight – making it easy to move around to make room for more guests. For example, if the conversation is flowing at the swing, guests can grab a chair and gather wherever they like. I also love the matching coffee table that is part of this set. It’s the perfect size and height for our toddler daughter to pull up a chair and use as an activity table for arts & crafts, play-doh, and even lunch!
Shop Our Patio Furniture & Decor
We found our patio furniture at Ikea late last fall. I believe the set is sadly discontinued, however, I found oodles of lookalikes across the web that I’m rounding up here for y’all.
Take a Swing on Our Traditional Front Porch Swing
There is no better place in our home to kick back and relax than on our front porch swing. Our house sits on a hill which means a ride on our front porch swing comes with a sweeping view of our entire block. We ordered this swing just two days after buying into our house. We didn’t have any furniture inside yet, but by golly, we had a porch swing! This wooden swing is sturdy, spacious and the cushions that come with it are oh-so-comfortable too.
As we sip on our drinks and swing at sunset, the people watching and activity on our street at this hour has become more entertaining than any technology could provide. It feels like time slows down whenever we go for a swing. After all, Southerners have gathered and enjoyed conversation with their neighbors from their front porches for generations, 100 years on this block too, and I just love that we are continuing the tradition.
Keeping Cool During The Dog Days of Summer
This will be our first summer back in Tennessee. From what we remember from our childhood, it’s sure to be a warm one! We updated our front porch light fixtures with two Mill Valley outdoor fans from Hunter Fan Company in Indigo Blue. These stylish fans boast plenty of light each evening and keep us cool during sunny spring days. I’m sure I’m going to be so very thankful we installed them once those summertime temperatures soar to the upper 90s!
Hunter fans are known for their Whisper Quiet and Wobble Free technology. We’d certainly rather hear the birds chirping than the sound of a rickety fan, wouldn’t you?!
Fun fact: this fan is damp-rated for outdoor spaces but can be also used both indoors! The Mill Valley Fan comes in several colors and we chose the brand new blue shade to compliment our planters and pillows. It also makes a great accent color to our bold red home.
Colorful plants and pottery filled with fresh blooms make for an easy way to spruce up any space, especially the front porch.
I’ve collected these planters through the years but found very similar styles available at Williams Sonoma too. And what’s a Southern front porch without a citronella candle? These days citronella candle containers are as stylish as they are effective. This darling blue candle from Target is only $12 and will be burning all season long on our porch.
Where you’ll find me the majority of the time!
Now before I go, I can’t resist mentioning a bit about this beauuuutiful emerald green maxi dress (that I so wish was actually mine!) I rented a bundle of goodies from Nuuly before Covid 19 threw our world for a loop and I figured I’d pull them out to wear them regardless of the situation.
This gorgeous green maxi dress is a Free People/Nuuly find and was one I had planned to wear to a spring baby shower. The fit is incredible and it’s oh-so-comfortable too. If the price tag wasn’t insane, I’d buy it straight from my Nuuly rental! However, I’m thinking I’m going to have to just rent it again when socializing begins again.
After all, it seems a party on our front porch is definitely in order once we’re all able to get together with friends and family once more!
