Most years I find myself getting really nostalgic at the end of one year and at the dawn of the next. I’m not sure why, but this year I’m just really eager for 2019 to start and to get the ball rolling on new and exciting projects both at home and for the blog. 2018 was an amazing year for our family – filled with adventures, lots of love, and time spent with family & friends. There were plenty of highs and lows thrown in there in between. I plan to do a little roundup of my biggest moments of 2018 later this week. At times, I like to treat Lone Star Looking Glass as if it were a little journal of mine and I do love to go back and look at previous year’s posts to see how far we’ve come. After that, I plan to compile my resolutions for 2019 in the hopes that publishing them actually keeps me accountable! (We’ll see!) Do you write out resolutions for yourself each year!?
But before all that, I’m keeping today’s post short and sweet with a little bit of festive New Year’s Eve outfit inspiration. Who else will be heading to the store or flipping through your closet and looking for a last minute look!? Also chatting about my family’s New Year’s Eve plans below! … They’re probably not what you’d expect lol!

This floral metallic frock of mine is by one of my favorite dress designers, Eliza J. Eliza J’s feminine dresses are available at both Nordstrom and Dillard’s and are flattering on so many different body types too. I’ve had a thing for fit & flare dresses for as long as I can remember – I’ve always loved this classic silhouette! This party dress is one I know won’t be going out of style anytime soon and will be a perfect dress to pull out for not only New Year’s Eve but winter weddings, future holiday parties and more.
I paired it with my go-to black lace-up heels by LK Bennett (which are now on sale!) Every time I wear them I can’t help but think of Kate Middleton, as she is such a big fan of this British brand. (Which naturally makes me love them all the more!) I also added my fur collar from Ann Mashburn and black accessories to complete the look.
Speaking of New Year’s Eve, our plans this year are pretty amazing if I do say so myself. We’re meeting friends at Benihanas (already daydreaming about that garlic butter!!!!) early in the afternoon, with all of our kiddos in tow, and then having a sleepover at our friend’s house. This way we can put the kids to bed at a decent hour and stay up late – pretending it’s like old times – while we ring in the new year over board games and champagne. I’m not going to lie, there is a good chance I won’t even make it to midnight (Annie likes to wake us up at 5 am…. soooo … we’ll just see about that!) but the fact that we’re actually leaving the house with our toddler for this festive night is huge!
What are your plans for tonight?! Do you like to lay low on New Year’s Eve or go out with a bang (in a sparkly dress) to boot!? I certainly like to change things up year after year and am so glad we’re heading out to celebrate tonight. Looking forward to connecting with you all in 2019!! Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and following along. I appreciate it more than you know!
