3 Ways to Enjoy a Different Kind of Girl’s Day

Fresh off our heels from New York Fashion Week, my travel companions Margret, Rebekah and Annie and I shifted gears completely and spent a day focusing on fitness, fun, and relaxation in The Boardwalk at Towne Lake. When the four of us usually get together, it seems that we’re always dressed up and something fashionable is involved. It was so nice to hang with my girls with no makeup on, in workout clothes and do something totally different from the norm. I’m thinking more days like this are in order stat!

While we typically take any excuse we can to get together, we decided that why not take advantage of February 14th and have a laid back Galentine’s Day party while the kids were in school and husbands at work? The four of us spent the school day experiencing the many amenities that the Boardwalk Towne Lake had to offer. It made me realize that we should break out of our normal routine more often and try something new. Sharing a peek into our wonderful Galentine’s Day get together and highlighting 3 ways to have a different kind of girl’s day too!

The Boardwalk Towne Lake is a brand new complex in the Cypress community, just northwest of Houston’s city center. If you lived out here, you would have everything you wanted and more within a stone’s throw distance. (Including a Torchy’s Tacos!) What really makes The Boardwalk special is that it sits right on the shores of one of Houston’s biggest lakes. With oodles of restaurants, an array of shops and places to both power up and kick back and relax, there really is something for everyone at this Houston hotspot.

Fit in Some Fitness

My gal pals and I kicked off our Galentine’s Day get together with a reform pilates class at Club Pilates Towne Lake. We’ve all spent SO much time together over the past year but never once have we done anything active like this. And let me tell y’all, it felt SO good and was super fun too! We even spent a good majority of the class giggling and chit-chatting (breaking the rules just a bit) but we couldn’t help it because we were all just so excited to be there!

See my and Rebekah’s faces?! Totally holding in our laughter just a little bit!!! The pilates class was seriously so fun and definitely my kind of work out. I love that we didn’t sweat too much and left feeling stretched in all the right places.

Snack on Something Sweet

What’s a Galentine’s Party without something sweet to eat!? The four of us had a delicious brunch at the Boardwalk’s Breakfast Brunch Cafe. We all agreed that calories don’t count immediately after a work out so we ordered up a few sugary appetizers to kick off our meal. We couldn’t get enough of the frosted beignet balls and caramel dipping sauce. And oh my goodness the bread pudding sticks were simply divine! At least the pilates class canceled some of this out, right?!

To make the meal festive, our table setting was decorated to the nines with Valentine’s Day themed balloons by and goodies scattered about to gift one another from the Boardwalk’s adorable Beau Kisses and The Royal Standard boutiques.

Book a Massage and Relax

The highlight of our girl’s day, if I do say so myself, was an hour spent in pure relaxation at Massage Heights. This tranquil spot was just steps away from breakfast but once inside I felt like I was a world away from the rest of the world. Massage Heights offers many different types of massages and even membership packages so you can get your relaxation fix on the regular. The four of us girls opted for Swedish Massages and they were simply diiiiivine!!! I’ve never in my life appreciated massages more than I do now as a mom to a toddler. Picking up and carrying around a small human can really take a toll on your body. That combined with the stressors raising a tot can create makes an hour-long massage feel like pure bliss!!

I’m seriously so thankful to have found such sweet friends here in Houston. Especially ones that are always up for an adventure or trying something new with me! Boardwalk Towne Lake made for the perfect spot to celebrate Galentine’s Day with a different kind of girl’s day. I’m just thinking we’re going to have to come back on a warmer day next time – so we can hit the water in one of the Boardwalk’s big boats!

Huge thank you to the Boardwalk  Towne Lake for hosting me and my gals. It was such a lovely day! And thank you so much to Emily Jaschke for hanging with us and snapping some of these fun photos. You were such a blast! As always, thank you all for following along my everyday adventures on Lone Star Looking Glass. It brings me so much joy to share them with you.
