Fall Fashion with My Little & Everyday Ramblings

Oh you guys, I started today off on such a high!! It was a morning that I’ll probably remember forever. Annie’s first Halloween “parade” at school! This was her first time to do any sort of “show” or “performance” with her school or a group in general. At just 21 months, it’s not too often that you find yourself performing in front of such a large audience! I knew going into motherhood these types of special occasion/school performances were going to be something I would absolutely adore throughout the years to come. And now that we’ve had one, I find that my suspicions were absolutely correct!!

We all have our hard days as moms, isn’t that the truth!? But oh my goodness it is days like today that make me feel like I was just made to be Annie’s mother. When she saw me from across the room and got up to give me a hug in the middle of their “performance” … I mean, there truly was no greater feeling! The highs certainly make up for the lows and I love that these little moments can remind us what the joy of motherhood is all about.

So now that I’m on this motherhood high, I thought I’d share a cute fall look that Annie and I snapped together recently. We had a few chilly days in Houston and certainly took advantage with cozy sweaters, homemade chili & every other stereotypical fall activity you could imagine. Head on down to see more details on our fall fashion & a bit more ramblings on what’s been going on behind the blog lately too!

Fall fashion, I am so excited to be welcoming you with open arms to Texas! (Even though it’s currently 84 degrees again … but I’m hoping that will change really soon!) This fuzzy cape is a recent find from Ann Taylor and it’s such a great piece to throw on and go this season. It has a small hood at the back to keep you extra cozy all fall long too. I paired it with a simple white tee, skinny jeans and my go-to riding boots this season. (Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about the fit of these boots from Cole Haan, especially if you have slimmer ankles and calves. Sometimes I have a problem finding slim enough boots to fit my ankles and these fit like a dream! The back has stretch to it so it’ll fit most sizes as well.)

On another note, I’m getting as much use out of Annie’s overalls as I can because I have a feeling she only has a few weeks left fitting in them. Little girl is growing like a weed! We recently had to overhaul her closet, packing away everything that didn’t fit … which seemed to be almost everything in her wardrobe.

We also had to replenish her shoe collection the other day as she has already jumped up to another size. I feel like all I do is buy toddler shoes lol! Maybe soon she’ll grow into a size and stick to it longer than 3 months or so? We just found these black ballet flats at Target for $9.99 which was such a great price point compared to this Mary Jane style I almost grabbed from Nordstrom the other day. They’re so darling but at the rate, we’re going through shoes $60 feels excessive. I splurged on several pairs of shoes when she was younger, not knowing how little she’d actually get to wear them. After boxing all of those pairs away after only a few months of use, I think I’m learning my lesson. Who else is struggling to keep up in the toddler shoe department?

In other news, I’m back home and settled after a whirlwind of travel last week. If you’re following along on instagram, you may have seen that we jetted off to both South Padre Island and Tennessee last week! I am so thankful for the two amazing opportunities that brought me to both of those places and I had such fun sharing the destinations with you all. I’m so glad to be back home and back to my routine, but in a way, part of my head is like … okay, so where are we off to next?! Are any of you all just as travel obsessed and always thinking about the next adventure in your head?! We don’t have anything on the calendar for November, except for Thanksgiving with family back home. And even though I am a bit travel obsessed (that’s putting it mildly) it sure does feel nice knowing that I’ll be hunkering down at home again for the next few weeks!!

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog and letting me ramble on to y’all on this Monday morning! Hope you all have a great start to your week and get to enjoy a bit of fall weather and fall fashion too!

xo, alice
